Hi Folks

My 2 month old touratech panniers particually the 41 ltr one are leaking in water
now i know i has been rain quite heavy recently but a so called waterproof
pannier should remain waterproof. Now then ive cleaned out the seal and refitted
i checked it this morning before riding to work and found yet another puddle.
It seams to me that the seal isn't thick enough it only got to be a knats knacker
bigger and it would probably be fine.

So do you guys n gals have any soultions?

Thanks stephen

No help to you in this case (pun intended) but I never trust anything that is labelled as 'waterproof'. I pack items within a plastic bag if going into my panniers (givi) just to be on the safe side.
Can anything man-made be 100% waterproof? I know aluminium is a natural resource but the actual panniers/sealant has be produced by a man/woman

Listed as waterproof, only one solution, take it back to the shop and get them to replace or sort out. May just be a faulty batch of seals. I'm sure Touratec would be helpful too. Dave

Well i decided to try and fix it my self. I filled both panniers with water so i could see where the leaks were. The water came from the corners of the lid and from around the base. So i seam sealed the bases ive cleaned out the lid seal but it didn't make much difference so after a few cups of tea i realised that the seal
itself isn't thick enough so what ive done is got 4 lengths of 1 mm welding wire and layed it into the seal run and then fitted the seal the lid now has a more positive close and so far no water yeeee haaaaa.

I am suprised to hear that they leaked as I thought they had a good reputation for not leaking. Damm shame I say!
