I set the tappets replaced the spark plugs and balanced the throttle bodies. Now running as smooth as the day I bought it.
In the words of a salesman;
Well Sir, they all do that.
Or ditto above.

Right reading on here , could it be bad fuel ? I only just bought bike and it had old fuel so put normal unleaded in ?

What coils do you have?
Original black painted type fail eventually. When one goes the other wont be long after. If they smell of burnt insulation they are probably getting toasted if not yet crispy.
The stainless wrapped coils are more reliable and ****ing expensive. If you could find a three wire car engine stick coil that fits you would please a great many people.
Lumpy tickover could be and idle speed stepper motor. Not easy to test other than borrowing a know good pair.
You "can" set the throttle balance by unplugging the steppers before starting the engine. It will need a bit of throttle or it wont fire up and wont run below 1500 rpm. I set mine with e TwinMax balancer using that method.
Secondary coils don't seem to do very much. I can unplug mine and the engine runs just the same. It always has. The plugs look correct colour so it seems they are sparking.

All sorted
My fault, but done now
