Michelin Pilot Road 4

Go for Contitrail Attacks. Totally uncontroversial, up to 10,000 miles, depending how you ride. They have been great on my TC, over the last 30,000 miles, and I'm no slouch!!

Trail they were squared off after 1500 mile down to the wear bands 3000k,great tyres in the rain but that's not enough miles for a premium tyre .
Just put on some A 40 bridgestones £185 fitted

I fitted PR4 Trails for the first time, and have done 3000+ miles on so far. 1,700 of those was on Motorways with heavy panniers. No squaring off, but I would estimate that the rear will last around 4,500 miles. That, to me - is good considering the cornering grip compared to a 6000m-range Tourance (German) or 4,500-5,000m Tourance (Chinese).

Great tyres in the Alps twisties, and I doubt I would go back to a Tourance-type tyre. Some people want absolute longevity, which is fine too.

Some people expect ultimate grip AND ultimate longevity................. I don't think that is realistic

Any new generation tyre tyre grips fine in the dry, it's in the rain that is important to me but 3000 mile really .
£250 a set is a lot of cash apparently there's a lot of people not happy with them, I will report back when I've tested the bridgestones in the wet, so far in the dry they are good tips in better than pr4 which I thought were a little slow.

Excellent thread, tyres, oil - if we could only get a mention of Jock in here we'll have covered 'for sale' items and the Holy Trinity will be complete :)

I want excellent dry grip and the same in the wet! Rather change tyres more often than pull it out of a ditch!!
