I know, I know, use the search - I did, just couldnt find what I'm looking for....

Any advice on where to mount an Autocom box on a GSA? It has ABS so that space is out...

And while were at it, any thoughts on mounting phone and MP3 player on the cross bar in a little box? Who sells a suitable little box that I could line with foam?

I see Whatton has a nice box...

My autocom started off in an adapted tankl bag, then moved house to the steel box under my Givi rack plate, now finally (because of length of cable problems) it lives in front of the diagnostic plug just under the back of the tank.

From there, the pillion headset cable reaches the pillion's head, the power can easily be taken from a switched source and the cables can even be tucked away under the seat if not in use.

There will be a FAQ soon...........don't hold your breath but it's coming ;)

I know what you mean about searching!

Here's where I put mine and how I connected it. You do have to find somewhere else for the tool roll.

I used 3M velcro so that I didn't make any holes in the mudguard.

PM if you need more details.

Mike.

By using two spade connectors you can 'remote' the horn fuse without carving up the fuse box or even trying to remove it to find a suitable live feed.

Perhaps more seriously....

I've done the bit with phones that you can see - problem is, if you can touch them, they can get wet when it rains.

I used to keep an old phone specifically for this purpose, but when I stop for a break, I've got just too much to disconnect - GPS, helmet lead, in-ear speakers, MP3 etc - that I decided to go the Autocom Bluetooth route. That way there's one fewer leads to worry about and no phone to get washed out.

Regarding mounting Autocom on GSA, try this..
Remove the rear rack, 6 screws in total. The plastic undertray has a perfect sized cutout to hold a Pro 7 Autocom.
Post the wires out of the side and remount the rack.
The rider helmet lead I have running down the left side of the bike, with the connector sticking out just below the tank. You will need an extension lead to reach the helmet.
Pillion should not require an extension.
Reason for doing the above is that I have a Corbin seat and loose most of the underseat space.

I've never taken my rack off, but doesn't that leave the autocom box exposed to wet etc??

Haven't tried it in any serious wet weather yet, but it does seem to be a sheltered location. The autocom is inside a small waterproof roll top bag, but is not completely sealed due to the cables exiting the bag.
Cheers,
Matt
