My bike has gone back to BMW

There is a very good motorcar stereo / alarm type place in Wandsworth, trading from under the railway arches. Last time I was there they had £60,000 worth of brand new Audi (still with its plastic protection on) but half of its dashboard removed, the seats out, unknown parts from under the bonnet removed and both front and back bumpers off. On enquiring on why an expensive, brand new, car was sitting with the YOP scheme monkey crawling all over it, I was told that the local dealership had a serious but urgent problem....

The vehicle (for which there was a waiting list) was due to be picked up tomorrow by its new owner. It had been specified and paid for to include a factory fitted option of parking sensors (quite novel at the time) none of which had been done. The dealership lacked the time / expertise to retro-fit them, integrate it all with the alarm system etc. etc. so had called upon 'Alarms-R-Us' to do the job, post haste.

The vehicle was to be finished that afternoon, put back together and sold to the very happy new owner..... Who would be none the wiser.... The alternative being for the dealership to 'fess-up, maybe return the car to Germany (who had failed to match the specification to the order) and for the unfortunate new owner to wait, ranting to anyone who might listen that he was not happy. Returning the vehicle to Germany is not practicable, Audi's delivery system being designed to ship in one direction, not surprisingly. So the work was to be carried out under the railway arches, close by the Alma pub, 'under cover of darkness' as it were.

The job was done, the dealership picked the car up and all was well. Nobody bar me, the fitters and the dealership any the wiser as to what had happened. The new owner? Thrilled!

So you knew the new owner and that he was happy? Was that before or after you told him about it? You did tell him didn't you?;)

I don't think he refers to knowing the owner. This is like a lot of things in life. There's a lot of stuff you're better off not knowing.

Amongst these subjects are:

What passengers think of your driving

What your Mrs thinks of your performance in bed

What people say about you when you've left the room

The intimate history of a second hand vehicle! (I sold a Fiesta XR2 in the early 90's, I'm just glad the next owner knew nothing of what I got up to in that car, I was 21!)

I'm sure Wapping got the tongue in cheek comment I made as it refers to one of his previous posts in this thread..... sorry, I will try and leave my obviously crap sense of humour out of it in future :beerjug:

Well that makes two of us. My post wasn't a dig at you, although having read it again I can see where you're coming from. So all's good.

Right, I'm off to go and measure my forks, fairing, side stand and gentleman's excuse me.

This thread is sooooooooooooooooo boring it needs to be consigned to the sewer and left to rot.

I disagree..... it would be interesting to find out exactly what has failed, although I doubt we will ever be told as the wall of silence seems strong with this one Luke. Only a final note from the author of the thread would stop doubts about any links to safety concerns such as failure of forks etc etc. I'm surprised you don't want to know considering you own one. I would.

TIME TO CLOSE THIS THREAD ME THINKS :rob

I think it has probably run its course.

No wall of silence; I've explained everything in detail, so don't understand the confusion.:nenau

I'll close the thread for now, as there's not much more to say on the matter. If I get any updates back from BMW on what was done to the bike to rectify the issue, I'll reopen the thread, and let everyone know. What I do know is that the bike is being collected from Vines this week, by BMW HQ, and being taken away somewhere to be fixed.:thumb
