Shouldn't your debate and discussions have a basis in experience of actually riding one?

If not your posts might be seen as purely provocative and I know that isn't true because you all seem such a wonderful bunch..

I have ridden one

The gearchanging was awful, because the clutch drag:D

I'll give you a clue. The people that continually post their conspiracy theories and negativity in the LC section, and can't stay away, DON'T own the bike.:rob:roll eyes::D

I don't have any negative conspiracy theories regarding the LC, the experience of couple that I have worked on has been positive.

However, there have been a fair few members on here who own an LC who have experienced difficulties with the gearbox (yourself included if I remember correctly on a bike that you returned to BMW for an exchange due to ANOTHER issue)

I don't post as a troll nor do I post as an LC 'hater' If the thread had been "My Yamaha Virago had gearbox issues" and the symptoms were the same, my conclusion would be the same.

I post as a motorcycle technician who works on different motorcycles, new and old, every day.

If debate and genuine advice from non LC owners isn't welcome then I suggest that some kind of disclaimer be introduced prevent it.

Maybe we could call it "Nutty's rules" - You can post anything in this section as long as you don't make any negative comments about the precious LC

What about the designers and engineers who make the bike many don't ride bikes at all
Wet clutches can be bastards my experience is Vespas scooters and lambrettas new clutches cause drag not clearing properly
Wrong oil bad plates and steels

I'm with you there, how many PX200's have you ridden with clutch lurch!!

I have ridden one there were no problems or issues with the clutch or the gearbox, bloody front wheel didn't want to stay on the road though.

I am sure from what I have read on here that some have serious issues, others do not so any sample of one is meaningless.

There does appear though to be a certain element who seem almost to revel in the fact that some have problems. I wonder why.

Jb.. absolutely agree it isnt a cure. And its crazy that it doesnt work right on all 4 settings.
Maybe I should have titled this thread differently, to" setting 4 cures neutral!".
Im certainly happier but not satisfied, I will keep feeding back to bmw and if any other fixes come along I will gladly become a test subject !

I used to work on the scooter rallies we got brand new clutches complete they wouldn't clear strip them down clan high spots
Same with T5 cosa clutches some were perfect others bastards seem very similar the only problem 14 k is far too much to spend to pretend your riding a px125

Until I bought my Mk2 GSA hexhead, every bike I have owned had a wet clutch. NSU, Meriden Triumph 500, CZ, MZ, Honda kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki has had a wet clutch.
The Suzuki GT750 had the best gear shift if not the best ratios. The trumpet had to be properly rev matched or it crashed badly. The Yam with shaft was busy up shifting without clutch.
All were noisy if not properly rev matched. The GSA is the same. Shift slowly (like most car drivers who rely on the synchromesh) and it will crash - especially going down the box.

The new LC can't be any different. So shift quickly going up and throttle blip going down. Also try it clutchless. It's like going knickerless but less draughty.

My bike was returned due to a frame issue. There were no problems with my gearbox, apart from a couple of times it crunched from third to fourth, under hard acceleration, which was probably my fault.

He's only ridden a few hundred miles on his 2014, so far.......................give it time:D

And I'm sure you, and many others are keeping your fingers crossed that I have gearbox/ clutch issues.

One is surely allowed to debate and discuss, do you not think?

Freedom of expression

Yes but on what personal experience do you base your comments

Everything you contribute can only be classed as hearsay or conjecture.

Of course you could be gaining your experience by gathering and collating information from other posts but again those posts are usually based on hearsay

Yep agree

That is because progress is in this section and the old 1100/1150 section is slowly going to the annals of antiquity

Be interesting to know how many UKGS's have rejected their bikes due to gearbox issues?? Mine arrives at the end of the month - :blast

And I'm sure you, and many others are keeping your fingers crossed that I have gearbox/ clutch issues.

Not at all & you know it:D

Hope the bike is fine, but it were me I'd let it bed in before I see how it is

In 2013 most people said their bikes were fine until 600 miles and then dealer changed the oils and it went downhill from then on - so is the factory using a different oil to what the dealers can use, seems strange:confused:
