hmm - every bike i owned before getting into the GS had a wet clutch and I didn't experience this problem with any of them. Perhaps bike technology has gone backwards ?

Yep - bottom line this situation appears to be a bit of a mess. Still dont buy the 'user error' line with so many complaints and replacement bikes. Will hold off until 2015 when this should have been resolved once and for all and they've added another 5/10 bhp
Yeah but only if you post positive comments about the all conquering "unstoppable" WC that is nothing short of a beta bike issued to those who "had to be first" in line to own one.
I also found that changing between positions 1-4 significantly changed the quality go gear changes. Not sure which position was the best but I'm pretty sure it was 4.
