it's not all good news

you might want to consider my experience
I've got an 1150 adv and I love it, BUT-
you will probably want to replace the awful rear shock if two up touring, I fitted a maxton , £525
the front disks are a bit iffy, I replaced mine (after one warped) with pfm cast iron disks , £200

Enjoyed this thread so much I thought I should get my bit in, traded my 929 blade last April for the 06 50th anniversary R1, loved the bike and the paint job, paid 9K for it, the performance was awsome and the sound even from the stock cans was addictive...but after a near miss doing 138 in a 50 I reckoned it was time to grow up and see the world in full colour instead of a blurr. I now have an 1150se Adv, I've only managed about 600 miles since I got it in late October due to work and weather but loved every one of them......looking forward to seeing the world on my GS.......

Dont want to be a bore and Im glad that you survived but FFS, 138 in a 50, (what were you doing looking at the speedo at that speed). Its no wonder there is so much police interest in bikes. Nuf preaching, Welcome to the GS world and enjoy.

err. pastyman, was it not you and i that raced down the A5 at well over 145 while waving at each other I think that most on this site have at one time or another bust a speedlimit by a longway but we grow up and move on into gs ownership. lets just say it's all part of growing up, after all you don't so much let a GS grow on you, it more you grow into a GS.
