Hi all,
Just getting used to my 2002 1150GS and wanted to ask the question- do they all feel like they are surging at low revs? The bike is fine once you open the throttle and wind the bike on and it pulls like a train but holding it in 2nd or 3rd the bike feels like it is pulsing. I have been running it on normal unleaded and the bike has been recently dealer serviced and it has the correct pressures in the tyres.
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Chapperz . Welcome to bmw boxer ownership! Answers to your question yes they all do but some more then others , single spark do more then twin spark in theory , good fine tune should sort majority and adjusting your driving style will help too.

You could also look into the 'cat code plug' if you do a search on here it was a big issue some years ago with Steptoe doing a very simple remedy for it. I seem to recall a good walk-through guide which is probably still in 1150 section.

1150

Welcome have a read on the booster plug
Motor works sell them one of the guys who works there has a 1150 GSA he fitted one and told me the bike is totally different smoother better acc and easier to ride at slow speeds
Enjoy your 1150 they are amazing

Is it a twin spark ? If so check the main coil caps, one (or both) maybe failing.

If not put another 30psi in the tyres, that always cures engine surging.

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. Might look into the `Booster Plug` option as it seems a fairly inexpensive cure although I will possibly have to get someone to fit it for me as I am useless with a tool kit. I could live with it though as its not too bad and just put it down to what they call a "characteristic of the bike"! No-one has mentioned the fuel so I guess normal unleaded is fine for the 1150??
To answer your question Steptoe, yes, it is a twin spark & as for main coil caps failing! Oh no, that sounds expensive! think I`ll just put another 30PSI in the tyres
