New to the GS, loving it!

It's the Rallye Pro suit isn't it?

Very tempted but the inner liner is the only waterproof bit (correct me if I'm wrong).

However Rukka Armadillo or the Streetgaurd suit seem good. The Rukka is much less bulky I believe...

It doesn't look bad to be honest in my opinion, but it is a bit corporate BMW. Good value though compared to the Rukka.

So far choice for suits is:

1. Rukka Amradillo
2. Streetgaurd
3. Not Sure :)

Some people on here prefer the Revit Cayenne Pro (www.revit.eu). I use Hein Gericke 'cos I'm cheap, but also 'cos it's good stuff as long as you don't mind not having a lah-di-dah badge. Don't forget to look at Halvarssons stuff either, good kit apparently. I just wish Furygan had good "I'm not going to the shops, I'm going to Africa" kit, as I've always liked their road stuff.

Just a heads up, you'll now also need a Tour-X.......a twat suit and a Tour-X.

I did consider a Tour X but wouldn't the peak get blown about? Got an Rx7 Edwards Corsair and a Black white Arai chaser right now. May just sell on the Edwards rep as I never wear it!

I tried the HG stuff but can't get trousers to fit. Either too baggy or too tight. Liked the Master V suit but didn't fit right either with the lining out. The Rukka Armadillo seems pretty much spot on albeit v expensive but the shop are giving a bit off so that helps. Just concerned that it will be cold compared to my HG Journey but I suppose that's what base layers are for!:)

Quite a few of us have the odd "issue" with buffeting and noise at high speed on the GS. If you find that you are, too, and if you are the sort of guy who likes to keep the speed up, then you might want to be a bit careful with what helmet you go for. Endure style helmets, for me, did not necessarily get blown about too much, but were far too noisy for anything but town use (and you look a bit silly going to Tesco in full on Dakar gear, I think).

I just bought a boring Schuberth S1 (not the Pro, £199), which is massively quieter than the AGVs I am used to, and which has made the world of difference.

And, while I am on the subject, if you are new to the bike, and do find that you are getting buffeted, it's woth taking a look at the sticky "fitting winglets" post at the top of this forum. If I had not done that, there is no way in hell I'd have made London - Geneva in one hit last week, whereas with the Schuberth and the winglets, it was doable at a very high average speed.

Going to put the big Wunderlich screen on today and see how that helps. I don't mind the buffeting at all really, but for longer trips maybe the bigger screen is better. Heading to Glencoe or Braemar tomorrow depending on weather so will find out how good it is then!

The RX7 is a great lid but I prefer my cheaper Arai Phil Read Chaser as it takes comms and is v comfy :)

I've still got the basic screen, because I got enough of a benefit from the winglets and the Schuberth that I am happy now sticking with this setup. It is definitely worth trying a few options if you can, though, as there are very big differences to be found.

Just fitted the Wundelich ergo in the past 20 mins. Massive on the bike so will give it a try and see what happens!

I have a Lazer motocross helmet, which I use without goggles because I'm seriously hard. I don't find the peak a problem at all and in hot weather that big opening is brilliant. Yes, hot weather, which we have here in Turkey, you must remember what hot weather is....I'm sure you've been on holiday where there's some. I also have a Schubert flippy uppy thing, which is nice as well.

So, we've discussed clothing, and lids.......boots. You have a round the world bike, you need round the world boots. Sidi Crossfires, the hardest looking boot available, they won't just go around the world, they'll kick its f*cking head in as well.

I've got the Alpinestars SMX4 waterproof. Great boots. Got a pair of the SMX non waterproof too!

Lowa GTX Combats light, goretex, high leg boots, the boot of choice for special services around the world:ronno

The BMW one, as sported by Ewan and Charlie.

I actually quite like them, though...

I like them too. But I presume the "Twat" bit comes from wearing them to go shopping, rather than going round the world.....

CHEAP??? Fek me. They're expensive.

I'm cheap, so I use AKITO...... Had the same jacket for approx 8 years. Finally bought a bike in a colour that matches the jacket.... :augie:augie:augie

Just hope an all black leather suit with worn knee sliders isn't considered a twat suit, on a GS.....:augie:augie

Those are my boots of choice, and very excellent they are, too.

I do wish that they would stop squeaking, though, so my hard biker look was not quite so spoiled by the clown soundtrack.
