forgot all about this due to lap top going pete tongue while away, so i will attempt to carry it on.

so the next stop was going to be a little place called Le Crozet a small medieval village (believe it or not on top of a hill) a very pretty little place and well worth an hour or two of your time.
a link to what google has to say would be here, https://www.roannais-tourisme.com/en/cultural-heritage./villages/the-crozet/.

So up early the next day to be on our way to the next port of call Mont Brun le Bains, this time to camp, now we stayed here before but only for a couple of days, this time would be for a week so a lot more time to explore the area.
First day out to Saint Jalle and then onto Nyons, Saint Jalle a very small village built at the side of a river nice and quiet with what appeared to be a reasonable camp site, Nyons on the other hand is quite
a big town on a large river with plenty to see.

Today would be a day off the bike and out for a walk, decided to walk along to the next village from Mont Brun, Reilhanette, built on top of a little hill a small but interesting village with a small ruined castle atop of the hill.
As you can probably tell from the pics the weather was amazing high twenties to low thirties. one of the pics is looking back to Mont Brun.DSC03380.JPGDSC03383.JPGDSC03384.JPGIMG_0242.JPG

After a great day yesterday spent doing a fair bit of walking, today would be spent traveling to visit Fort de Buoux around 60km south of Mont Brun, little did i know this would involve more walking, only this time the fort in question is on top of a steep rocky climb (i should kill the big Gal for lying to me, you would think i should know her by now.) pics below.

The day after the route march up to Fort Buoux I decided we should spend the day just meandering around some localish roads, this we often do just to see what we come across, its something we enjoy as much as having a place to visit.
So off we trot and one of the first roads we come across i was later to find out, was the Gorges de la Nesque and what a stunning road it turned out to be, with great views and new tarmac, and for the keen eyed amongst you you may spot DSC03427.JPGDSC03432.JPGDSC03440.JPGIMG_0801.JPGIMG_0805.JPGlocal land mark that i guess a fair few have been to atop of one of the mountains, the gorge road itself is around 25km in length and if you are ever in that area i would certainly give it ten peneth of looking at.

Yes, I have been to the top of that mountain. Had to go up & down the same side as the north was still iced up. Missed seeing the Gorge though on the daytrip from Avignon.

Finished the Gorge and carried on a while just meandering around and came across the town of Vaison-la-Romaine that is famous for its rich Roman ruins and mediaeval town and cathedral, a nice find that we had not planned on seeing, just goes to show what you can come across when wandering around. Well worth a visit.20230530_131445.jpg20230530_131533.jpgIMG_0815.JPGIMG_0820.JPGIMG_0822.JPGIMG_0823.JPG

Today we are informed by Meteo that the weather is about to change down here, so a quick shufty at the weather map shows us that for the next week or so there is a band of rain across the whole of the south of France into Spain and also Italy so time to make a move, so where to,well being as there is no point getting wet when there is better weather up North that is where we headed, the next few pics you see are of the journey from the south all the way up to the Morvan where we camped for another 8 days, this route from south to the Morvan took us through part of the Vercors as well. pics below in no particular order.20230601_110739.jpg20230601_110839.jpg20230601_110920.jpg20230601_114438.jpg20230601_122103.jpg20230601_122317.jpg20230601_125130.jpg20230601_130131.jpg20230601_134634.jpg20230601_145026.jpg20230601_145050.jpg20230601_145053.jpg

First morning at the new campsite in the Morvan,

Camping en Bourgogne dans le Morvan : La Fougeraie, now i would recommend this place but not in peak time its fine if you have kids but would be very busy and not too quiet in the high season, but for the time we were there it was nice and quiet, and also if you are into fishing a well stocked pool.20230602_171708.jpg20230603_071426.jpg20230603_073918.jpg20230605_081637.jpg

Excellent, Lee, thank you.

I recognise several places in your pictures. I recall, though could be wrong, that Nyons marks the farthest north that olives can be grown in a reasonable enough quantity to justify oil production. Global warming may well be changing that.

Great olives, whichever way.
