Oh Shit! £££££££ ,😭

I have decided to get the job done by an indie in Oswestry. I don't have all the heavy tools to do it myself. I may also replace the drive pulley while the primary is open. The wheel pulley replaced later in the year as it is fairly straight forward when the wheel is off.
I need money for my long summer vacation.

Unlikely anything wrong with the drive pulley.

the wheel pulley is what killed my belt . ( and mine was easy cos it's a Sportster )
do it.
it's one of those jobs where you do it all , or Mr Fuckup will come to visit.

Total cost of parts alone came to £966.
I assume labour could be around £450.
Need the bike for my vacation and without faults.
Ouch - that is a very, very good reason not to get a belt drive.

Belts are very, very reliable and long lasting if everything is set up right. Changing them isn’t too big a challenge for a competent home mechanic. It’s not a “side of the road” event though…unless you’re on a Sportster.

The final story is the job was done by an indie mechanic in Oswestry. Bike is an Ultra Limited.
So, for HD belt, two pulleys (rear with bearing), gasket/bolts/seals kit and labour, it came to £1,300.
I can't complain for a job well done. I just don't have the heavy tools required.
My EU tour is now more certain to succeed as new tyres (Bridgestone H50) fitted as well the month before.
HAPPY DAYS are here again.
