Well. As reported a while back my oil temp guage and fuel gauge are u/s on my 2002 GS. I peeled back the insulation, found the earth crimps near the clocks and gave them a right good clean and once over. Also checked all the Multi pin plugs we could get at, cleaned them and re wrapped the wiring.
All to no avail though, still no gauges working properly. (Oil temp does register but only goes to 3 possibly 4 at most, but the sinks back down to two or three)

I've checked "real time" values with my GS911 and running the "engine temp" is showing around 90 C
Does the temperature that the GS911 reads, come from the same sensor as the oil temperature gauge ?

I thought it might be the fuel level sensor at fault, at first, as it was only the fuel level gauge that was playing up initially. But as the oil temp is now obviously "telling fibs" too, I'm beginning to wonder if its the Gauge itself that's us.....
Any thoughts .....Thanks in advance....

On my 2002 GS the norm for my temp gauge is 3 bars up to 4 if spirited riding. Only in hot weather do I see 5. I've only owned the bike for 4 years and it's always been the same. My mate owned it from new so I assume it's always been the same
I know not exactly the same problem you've been having but just some info on my "normal" gauge reading.
Of course bike lives in NE Scotland where we don't always have the warmest weather.

Thanks, yes, mine was always bang on 5 bars unless occasionally REALLY hot, then maybe 6 .. also now top bar (2,3, etc depending on temp) appears to flash before coming on, which I'm sure it's never done before too ....
