peformance difference between 1150 gs and 1150 gsa

I hope this hasn't been asked too many times before but what is the real tersm performance difference between teh two? Mags say the GSA is a bit faster top end, but what is the difference on the roads?

Gilson, I think that the question has been asked several times before - you could use the 'search' facility to see if you can find a recent thread.

However, to start you off, the 1150GS and the Adventure have, to all intents, the same engine. The Adventure does, however, have a fancier blackbox which allows a factory supplied plug to be inserted so that you can run the bike on low-octane petrol, parafin, chip oil, porridge and cocoa.

The gearbox ratios may be different depending on the original owner's option choices.

The GSA has longer suspension travel and has a higher static ride height.

The GSA screen is a little wider (still not much good, though).

Most GSAs have a single seat, whereas the GS has a separate squab for the pillion.

The GSA has a big tank option although I believe that it comes as stock now.

Factory luggage and engine bars are different, but standard GS parts will fit the GSA (but not vice versa).

Some other cosmetic and minor differences.

Whichever model you get, black bikes are fastest

Uh huh.. have you seen the "chip" ? I have one, the manual that comes with it basically says not to use it, it is for emergencies only, for short rides at low speeds... blah blah blah wtf use is that when everywhere I ride, low octane fuel (outback Aus) is mostly what is available !

My first exsperince of Australia was flying into Townsville late at night... I stayed in that hotel on the harbour and they had a debutants ball going on... Bunch of freaks!
