Please respond if you've NOT had a 1200GS/GSA fuel pump controller failure

07 GSA all year round rider,16k mileage no fuel probs but loads of other bits and bats but generally pleased with bike......now just out of warranty and risking not extending:nenau

15000 miles on 07 gs no problems just coverered it in waterproof grease now 09 gsa no problems yet (i still carry a spare just in case)

05 bike, 12k miles, no FPC issues, last year greased it all up so water can't stay on...

'06 1200GS
10500 miles
mostly dry
bike sits for minimum of 3 weeks out of six (when at work).

March 08 - 1200GSA, 8K miles.

No problems with FPC. Regularly squirted with ACF50 and dried clean each time after cleaning.

Having had a conversation with a dealer about the vented cover and the possibility that water ingress could be an issue he suggested that the controller doesn't run hot and to cover the vents up...

So I did...

10 days and 3000 miles up until yesterday..as far as Slovakia... no problems at all despite the temperatures being 30deg plus for most of the trip :Motomartin

Never had a problem with the bike in the 2 years I've had it, but fitted a new model FPC today as a precaution. 2006 GS with only 9700 miles. After all the scare stories I decided that I would change the FPC at a time of my choosing, so in the comfort of my own back yard, sun shining, 2 cups of tea, etc. I swapped out a perfectly operational FPC for a new one.

Was a pretty fiddly job and I'm really glad I wasn't doing it at the road side on a dark, wet night. The actual housing was pretty clean - I don't get out much - but I did tape over the larger slotted area on the cover the keep some of the rain out.

ps - replaced rear brake pads and fitted a Wunderlich PC at the same time so had a busy afternoon :thumb2

pps - will be carrying the old FPC along with a new antenna ring to ward of the "breakdown fairies"

08 1200gs
9000 miles
all wethers
hop on all the time
never had a problim
just sold the bike and bought a new one, i hope this one is as good as the last one.

Recently got myself an 04 with pretty high mileage at just under 60k. I did my homework before I bought it and weighed up the odds but I've been through the service history and she's had no issues with the FPC and is still going strong.

One 1500mile trip to France over 4 days, two GS12, one R12, almost 5k miles, dissapointingly no FPC failures despite us being horrified from other people's stories and carrying the spares and comprehensive toolkits.

Apart from mine listed in the thread above, there were my mates 6k mile 1200R and the third guy's 05 GS with 35k km. At that mileage, apart from brakes and tyres he hasn't had a significant component fail at all.

'05 12 GS....34k miles
'05 12 GS....23k
'06 12 GS....26k
'07 12 GS....39k

No failures other than dip beam bulbs.:thumb

2006 R1200GS

16,000 miles

One long Euro-tour each year (two up with ALL the luggage)+ commuting couple of times a week on days when temperature's above 10 C, rain or shine. (Hosed down with cold water after a ride if there's salt about)

Gearbox input seal failed at 13,000 miles, 3 months out of warranty - BMW picked up the tab after some gentle persuasion.

Lives in garage when not being used.

No other problems.

Brilliant bike.

It's a good one!
