To match the PMR legal freq's should I use narrow or wide band?

Narrow Band FM is the default setting for PMR446
It refers to deviation.
The frequency modulated carrier wave will be deviated in frequency by a set amount above and below the non modulated frequency.
By anything from 2kz to 3 ish Khz.
Some radios may have a tighter/looser setting ........one for 2kz one for 3.5khz.....check your manual......if this is the case 3 or 3.5kz should be ok.
some radios may have a wide/narrow FM setting ...........some VHF radios have this to allow listening to broadcast FM which is ..........in communications terms.......bloody wide.....10kz +.......if thats the case .....use the narrow setting.
I'm heading off out on the bike ......when I get back I'll download a manual and specs for the 888 and check it

Got steps of 5/6.25/10/12.5 and 25k is that what you mean?

the steps are frequency steps
default to 6.25 for pmr446 to get the correct channel spacing programme in 446.0000 then click up one step to get ch1 pmr446 at 446.00625 then two clicks per channel up to 8 or 16 .
Im assuming the wide/narrow will be deviation.........leave it on wide and see how it goes........UHF kit used to have default 25khz channel spacings meaning the deviation could be a bit wider, but pmr446 is only 12.5 khz steps, if you find it bleeds through or sounds a bit buzzy/fuzzy on another radio ,just click it to narrow

Cant find the usermanual online .......check the one that came with the radio,the specs I found included Broadcast FM radio reception which will need wide deviation,communication channels usually use narrow,try it and see.....it wont harm the radio.

done narrow as wide was bleeding too much.
Just had a problem whith a PX777 tx/rx ing to/from the PX888 when using CCTS/DTS but that might have been resolved with a 12.5k spacing - don't think you can change it on the 777 as I couldn't find anywhere in the software.
