R65LS

Have you worked out why there are cuts/crimps in the loom, or what the ‘electrician’ was trying to achieve? e.g extra light relays? Bypass a cut out switch?

Not really , its been through 14 previous owners since it was sold in 1983 and there was no service history or paperwork with it . The cuts appear to be just poor workmanship/damage and the odd crimp mark do look like some sort of previous power take off . I think the description of "Electrician" would be a bit far fetched LOL , perhaps he was a butcher in a previous career LOL

A bit off topic....but I'd love something just like this for sunny day bimbles...that is all. (Will enjoy watching this bikes transformation)

Finished the wiring , looks a lot better and quite a few issues found and fixed , hopefully sorted the cutting out issue . I balanced the carburettors and it behaved itself and didn't cut out whilst I was doing that , so next step is out for a road test

Now looks like a proper loom. Can’t understand why anyone would do a cut n crimp job on a wiring loom, it’s just a short term solution that stores up long term problems.

You haven’t got any spare unused parts from when you sorted yours have you ?
I haven't got a lot. I have a used set of barrels and pistons that I bought as spares. Most bits I bought were used to replace the less good bits on the bike I have. In truth, mine has been untouched for a while. While it's been running it needs a bit of fiddling with ignition and fuelling.
You could go 'custom' and fit an 860cc kit from Siebenrock.

I’m specifically looking for a rhs front fairing inner panel as I’m missing one :-(

Removed the old seat cover with the duct tape repair and fitted a second hand cover that came with the bike . Not the best of fits having been previously fitted but an improvement on the old one

Looking good.
I’ve never a 650 airhead… I know they are short stroke so spin up quicker than a 800 or 1000.
Maybe I need to try a good r65…..

Decided to sell this to make room in my garage so I can work on my sons new to him R100GS
