Rattling engine and seizing exhaust flap.

That is indeed good news.. but where are all the spare engines going?.. Maybe more of these going down than we think?
Lets hope the issue is fixed on the new one (when you get it :) )

Sorry to drag back onto topic guys, but.................

The dealer rang today to advise that the motheship has authorised a replacement engine. Which, I guess, is good news and I guess I must speak highly of the dealership as they didn`t fob me off "they all do that sir"............

To be fair, after an initial hiccup I must say that generally I am very very pleased with how the dealership has resonded - it`s my hope to increase my business with them if they keep that up!

Here`s the rub, there`s no engines available (and they don`t know when any will be)..................

Let the conspiracy theories roll :bounce1

Unlucky Mark must be because they are selling well, and engines are marked for sold bikes already, maybe they did not expect a failure, or it could be. :popcorn

Well yes let’s hope so. I’d struggle to see the funny side of it if they stick in another engine with the same issue!

I’ll take my 2014 GSA to the annual v strom meet a week on Friday (of which I’m an honorary member) but I’d best not mention the 1250 eh, I’ll never love it down!

Could have been worse, a KTM meet and you bumped into Nutty and arsey. :D

Doesn’t the factory close down some time in August for holidays and prep for updates?
I may be wrong, coulda sworn the dealer said that to me about ten years or so ago - now he coulda been bullshittin me as I was waiting on a bike at the time. Maybe in these times of out sourcing and just in time manufacturing maybe they can’t anymore

If the mothership cant find you a new engine ,how about a new bike instead? For a Bloke who makes accessories for their brand ,I thought they might be a little bit more helpful towards you. Good luck with your out come.

Well, I’ve asked the question ‘how much to change’..........

i ended up with a new bike, when mine was diagnosed as needing a new engine.
but it took some effort (between the dealer and bmw) and mine only had 700 miles.

Wow, 700 miles - I can see why you would’ve had a strong case. I think I’m lucky to get a new engine as I was worried about them ‘simply’ repairing the broken one. My other concern is what the wait might be........

The dealer should be offering you either an extremely good part/ ex or some compo because you are without the bike you paid for. Id be jumping up and down if it was me. Just saying

Yes pal, I understand. As I said I don’t need a loan bike and I’m looking forward to what ‘deal’ they can produce but, and I know this sounds bad, I’m not really expecting anything - when I looked at changing my year old £20k K16 for a new RT I was shocked and just a little upset on what they could ‘only offer me’........

Hence the Name “stealer” but i suppose the moment you ride out of the dealership you loose the 20% Vat if your a private individual off course.

Well I’m not, the business is VAT registered yet still the pc value was, IMHO, a little rude! I await the offered deal, with these new circumstances, with a sense of unbridled excitement :)

Maybe but you only ever hear on forums about the bad ones. You seldom have folk posting that their bike isn’t destroying its engine do you ?

Yes of course, I totally agree! If my dealer does me proud I’ll be the first and happy to post accordingly.
