Rattling engine and seizing exhaust flap.

Maybe but you only ever hear on forums about the bad ones. You seldom have folk posting that their bike isn’t destroying its engine do you ?

Just looked in garage purely because it is pissing down, bike is happily enjoying a daily rest, it has not consumed itself, so goldilocks bike is happy, I have not said a bad thing about any of my bikes I have ever owned, and problems I have had just like most bikes, I just get about and fix them if it can be done, and if under warranty let the dealer sort it, what else can you do. :nenau

Totally agree with that too!

Would be funny, tho, to get the all important video of the bike eating itself :)

Well to date i agree with that. Never had a problem with any new bike ive owned. Only had problems with second hand GS. Didnt have it long after that.

If I'd have believed half the stories I read on forums I'd never have owned my Aprilias, my Triumphs or BMWs. The Tiger 1200 was blessed with so many horror stories, I was listening out for the death rattle in the engine and expecting the electronics to fail on the way home after buying it. Can't say I was upset when it made it through. Same with the GSA. I sort of consider the whole bike to be a replaceable part, and wonder whether my spokes will drop out, the ESA will fail, the chocolate cams will disappear or the shaft seize up. So far I've lost one spoke in one year. At that rate I hopefully have a few years use out of it before the cheque book has to come out to cover the disasters awaiting...:blagblah :rob:beerjug:

You might be soon, you have the same bike. :green gri

I know a couple of people with 1250s. They haven't broken. Yet...

OTOH, as for only hearing of failures on forums - a fellow club member who lives near me had the engine in his 1200 Rallye replaced a month before my engine started going 'clonk', 'clonk', as his had. Mine had done 29K, his about 19K, both 2017 bikes.

Oh dear, my '17 has done 23,500 miles and I am setting off on a 3,500ml euro trip, I'll take some rubble sacks with me to gather all the bits that fall off.

So while I am away I can expect;
Cams to fail
Shaft to rust away
Engine paint to fall off
Switch gear to fail
The gearbox to vibrate itself to bits
Suspension to fail

There must be loads I've missed ,it's going to be an interesting trip, glad I took out extended warranty.
