I like the look of the stock can but wouldn't mind it sounding a bit louder. Any of you guys replaced the cat with a Y-piece and kept the same exhaust? Does it sound any louder? Was it worth it? Do you need to have the fuel injection adjusted?
Cheers
Jon.

As far as I know, the cat is in the can, not in the pipes. I.e if you put on a slip-on, you'll lose the cat.

Of course, I could have amnesia or something...

Short term memory loss - tut tut:P

The cat is where the y piece would be on an 1150 i.e. part of the headers on a 1200.

Bought mine from Welshmagician a few weeks ago and I've found the difference is noticeable but not dramatic. Power wise it seems to fill in the slight dip at 5.5k. As far as being louder, I only notice the difference when 'cracking on' and is more a case of nicer tone than being a lot louder.

I'm well chuffed with the pipes - they do exactly what I wanted. (plus I can use leaded if I get caught short)

Si :D :D

according to nippy normans remus site the cat is in the end can and the collector box confused you bet . remus sounds good without new headers

Deffo, cat is in the Y piece.

The majority of cans have a valve that opens up a less restrictive path at higher gas flows. It's being removed on later models I believe (to save money).

On Advrider there's a thread about the Remus system and it's effect on HP.

Remus Can increases HP from 80 to 80 at the wheel. i.e. nothing, nowt, zilch.

Remus headers increase power from 80 to 88 at the wheel i.e. 10%.

With just a Remus can the sound is more meaty.

With the Remus can and Y piece it's louder still but not obnoxious.

That's with the baffle still in!

Anyone tried coring the cat out of the pipes? What is it made of? ceramics? platinum?
