Has any body had this happen ?
Fill the tank and the fuel guage bars all disappear and the oil temp bounces between 1 , 2 & 3 bars. Once you have done about 80 miles everything starts to work as it should and remains ok untill the next fill up and then problem starts again. I have checked the connections under the tank and all seem ok
Any ideas ?

Got HID lights?

Try pulling and replacing the fuse or if you have a HiD ballast mounted near to the RID it interferes with it....like I eventually found mine did:blast

Yes , I have a HID fitted but its been on the bike for about 18 months and yes had to move it a few times to get the display to work , but this problem has just started recently !

Combination of a dodgy or partly charged battery and the HID lights.
Firing up the HIDs pulls the voltage low enough to bollix up the RID

Many HID ballasts are made in China of components of dubious quality. It is quite feasible that over time these components can degrade and cause the problems you describe.

'Some ballasts used in HID conversions cause electrical interference (they are 'pulsey' inverter things after all) and could conceivably give grief to canbus type systems. A suitable filter in the supply line to the ballast (choke and capacitors) should prevent this.'

from a post I made a while back, I appreciate that you dont have a canbus system on your bike but your RID will be prone to interference

This is a well-known problem which can occur with any HID ballast - it happens from time-to-time with mine that are from Les Wassal (and therefore of the highest quality)

I don't think HID ballasts are made anywhere else but China

My bike is a 03 twin spark model that has no light switch , after seeing the draw on the battery on initial start up when the HID comes on I fitted a light switch from an older model letting me start the bike with the lights switched of . The problem is there when the lights are of , not sure if the ballast would still effect this , it was a cheap HID that I fitted !
