GS service + correct oil!
I've just been checking out dealers for my 12000 mile service on the 1200 GSA - I'm right in the middle of being miles from 4 dealers! . . so phoned all 4 for a quote & GOT 4 TOTALLY DIFFERENT QUOTES;
1.£under£200 / 2. £200 / 3. £246 & 4. £300 best advice and cheapest was Pidcocks in nottingham + also the only dealer who says that they ARE USING THE CORRECT BMW APPROVED OIL!!; CASTROL GP 20/50
This oil is best suited to the GSA + being the correct grade 20/50 suits the higher summer temperatures / continental use.
i've a tad more on this here;

As far as I can tell (+BMW have confirmed to us) CASTROL 20/50 is the correct oil for the 1200 GSA - but quite a few BMW dealers don't use it!
+ if you're running with their own sourced synthetic from new - the bike won't get properly run in - again ALL BMW'S own advice.
So, for me . . I'd phone around & get quotes + go with a dealer who;
1. gives good advice / best price
2. uses the correct grade oil.
I wonder if lack of correct grade oil is a reason / part reason that so many GS users report high oil consumption??? I've heard 1 litre every 1 or 2 k!
My GS uses 1 litre of GP in aprox . . well I'm at 12 k now & still not used the whole litre top up
