In order to remove the gearbox and after that the clutch, my copy of the BMW service manual and my Clymer manual both tell me to use BMW special tools 23 1 820 & 11 5 640.
My experience of special tools is that they are expensive & can take ages to obtain.
Does anyone know if these special tools are really required or if there are any work-arounds that can be utilised? If they are required, is there a quick and inexpensive known source?
Cheers
