I have the chart showing different connections.

Can someone remind me of the procedure:

1) ignition off
2) insert jumper wire (30-87a in my case)
3) ignition on
4) Twist throttle full open/shut couple of times to calibrate tps
5) start engine.

I'm sure I read somewhere about the need to remove Fuse 5 for a minute somewhere in this procedure but could be wrong? Can someone confirm this?

Apologies for my inability to find previous posts on this!

Magnus

Anywhere before step 3 ;)

All it does is makes the system 'forget' its settings, then you put the link in, turn ign on and 'teach it' the new settings by opening the throttle fully twice then turning it off again.

I think.

:D

It remaps the fuelling and air mixture settings to better suit a Y piece, y piece + free flow can or whatever combination of the above you have.

In real terms, it may give better power, better running through the rev/load range and/or smooth out the power delivery.

It could also increase your fuel consumption, not make any difference to the running or even possibly make it worse.

Give it a go, try the 'seat of the pants' gauge to see if it feels better and do a plug chop to keep an eye on how it's running ;)

I've got a linky in and it works for me :thumb

What does this mod accomplish?

Transforms some bikes.

has no effect on others.

Improves a lot.

Someone a while ago had it tested on a dyno.
It very slightly richens the mixture through the rev range up to the top end, then leans off to match the "normal" set-up. Which is very good for those with K&N, Y piece or an open can.

I'm not sure if it's just a fuelling difference or if it also changes the advance/retard as well.

Improved my bike slightly, made it smoother as it goes through the rev range .

But a couple of customers bikes felt like chalk and cheese after using the link.

I also think it may help compensate those bikes who's timing is slightly out ( so perhaps it also alters the advance/retard curve ?) . You'd be surprised how many GS's are running around with the timing not set quite right, and i presume thats from the factory.

It seems they're not checked at all after that ?? . Perhaps just left to the diagnostic computer to pick something up. If it'a capable :augie

But the best thing is, it costs pennies and is so easy to try. You'd be stupid not to.

Spoke to Allan Jefferies BMW earlier today, told them I had a Remus can i'd like to fit and a y-piece already on but was worried about getting the fuelling right. They said they could do a fix for about £50, take about an hour. I asked if it was the CCP mod they said "no it's not a ccp mod exactly".

I smell porkies! They want £50 of my hard earned wedge to stick a jumper wire in!!

Fiddling tomorrow, dyno on saturday see how things look.

Thanks for the advice chaps

99.9% of the bikes will run ok anyway without any problems with those mods.

Steptoe/Fanum

this is 1150's only isn;t it?

Not 1100's? Not that there's anyting wrong with mine, just checking ...

I have an 850GS. Standard exhaust with CAT, but no lamda sensor, only CO pot, and a K&N air filter. I was having big problems running at altitude above 2500m especially with crap petrol.

I did this mod trying a 3 pin jumper and the 2 pin jumper to see which ran best and have had no problems since.

At altitude i would have thought i needed a leaner mixture, not richer. Now i can sit at idle with a cold engine down to 700rpm and not stall (most of the time if needs be). Does this also point to a timing issue?

I also assume i can only do this because the 850 appears to be a parts bin special and depite being almost all 1100, i may have the bosch unit out of the 1150. don´t know.

It works now, so as long as i am not damaging any thing, any ideas as to what it does are only for curiosity.

cheers
mike

I ,too, have an 850GS. The Steptoe setting definitely improved mine. See my earlier post

steptoe mod

the battery came slack on my bike (o1 1150 single spark) and it started running rough and had poor tickover i thought it was crap fuel tried draining tank, changed plugs etc aS I START WORK AY 7AM AND FINNISH AT 9 i persevered for about a month slowly getting a bit used to it well today removed the ccp plug and reset every thing it felts smoother from the off first trafic light grand prix

tomorrow going to fit remus and steptoe mod watch this space

I have built a 2 into 2 exhaust system on my Adv and would like to try the CCP mod. I have done a search on the site, but have been unable to find anything about it. Could someone give me some info on the procedure please.
Thanks

mod done and undone

y piece and k&n, oe end can

removed ccp as suggested by thread

silky smooth (for a boxer) up to 5000 rpm then nothing

reinserted ccp (2 + 5)

bike a tiny bit rougher up to 5000 and then it hauls the front end up in the air:D :D :D :D

it's got a coming on cam feel about it

Steptoe, i have read this on both this site and the adventure one, and have a question 4 you,as you are the one clued up on this.
So, my bike is a 1150gs (04) standared can. cat inplace no k&n......bog standard.
So would i need to change anything, or only if you change the set up on exhaust etc!!!
Could you bekind enough to shed some light on this for me.
Thank and take care to all

My bike was totally standard when i did the mod .

You don't have to have a Y piece or remus.

As i keep saying - TRY IT and see if it makes a difference, costs 10 pence to find out.

It maybe better if it cost £50, then people would feel happier = Hey, i've just spent £50, somy bike must be better.

I can't understand all the fecking questions -

As i've always stated. Just try it.

If it works on your bike, great. If it doesn't, great. Then you can go back to the link you had before.

Yep,bugger it i said.
So went ahead and done the same connection as Steptoe has done.
when to try it out.........but it's pi$$ing down and need to cook tea.
So will try on way 2 work in morning.
Thanks for help once again

been following this thread with interest but how do i do the ccp mod?

Steptoe,
I've seen your post on the Adventure Rider site. Is there/ or can you, put an official thread on here with the photos and list of different placements of the 'jumping' wire acording to what set up an 1150GS / 1150GSA has.

It'd be the difinitive guide

That'd be cool for anyone wanting to find the info quickly.
