09.00 - Starting from junction 5 on the M20 - at the top of the slip road on the North side (slip road from West - coast bound).

Tour through Kent in a clockwise direction through country lanes mainly. The only bit of busy main road is from the start point to the top of Blue Bell Hill and across the A2 to Walderslade Woods.

The route is minor roads and lanes, some with grass growing down the centre - under low hanging banches, tight corners with adverse cambers and tight up and down hill bends. There are also some nice fast sweeping bends to allow the cobwebs to be blown away.

I have run the route a couple of times and it all seems to go well. Second run there were a couple of diversions around road works but they may be gone by the 10th.

Leaving Jct 5 on the M20 at 09.00 should mean that a convenient coffeee and needs break may be at a pub or at the Rare Breeds Centre at Woodchurch near Ashford.

Lunch will most likely be in Laddingford near Maidstone but if we are running late perhaps in Cranbrook. My plan is to stop at about 12.30 - 13.00 before places get too busy.

On the day we can decide to either stop the run at the lay-by opposite the Oakdene Cafe at Wrotham Heath and let people get directly on to the main routes for home OR take the lanes through to Eynsford.

I can't post the route at present 'cos I am at work and the route is on my home PC.

09.00 start from the top of the slip road on the North side - coast bound carriageway.

I haven't posted a ride out here for quite some time:augie but thought it was about time:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Route as attached....................

Planned to run from Eynsford to Eynsford but decided to cut it short at each end.

From the route, starting from the M20, up A229 and across to pick up the route at Walderslade.

At the end, cut across to Wrotham Heath from Ightam.

Hope to see you somewhere along the way:thumb2

Can't attach the route..........

'cos it's too big..........................

Don't know how to make it smaller so looks like its either be there on the day or ???????????????????????????????

Can mapsource files be compressed???????????????????????????????

All welcome.

Hopefully there will be enough of us to use the drop-off system (looking encouraging so far) to keep us all together AND that someone will be willing to act as tail-end Charlie:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm very new to gsers does it matter if the other guys have substandered bikes i.e road bikes:augie

The route has only a couple of bits where the roads are badly pot-holed. It's all on the highway - no tracks or byeways so road bikes and tyres are OK.

You will find that the GS fraternity are a pretty accomodating lot as a whole

Oh bu55er... The day of a good ride and I can't make it due to it being my daughters b'day party......

Now if it was Saturday the 9th!!!

Hi Gents

Something at work has popped and unless I can sort it tommorow I doubt if I can make it. Put me down as a may-be. I know where the start point is and I can always make my own way there.

Sorry its last min.

The joys of being on call..
