:mad:Well having had the honeymoon with my F700 gs things took a turn for the worse today .The left hand switch which has the indicator switch failed, well the little switch inside stuck and proved irreparable. So lets see what BMW say, I have heard these items were replaced under warranty for some 2013 bikes which mine is . Your on your own pal was the answer. OK so lets price one (no change out of £200 quid ) and may I add they just cannot be worth anything like that as they are the cheapest of cheap quality .Motorworks had the little beggar in second hand and relieved me of £90 for the pleasure . All working now but no confidence that the bloody thing wont do exactly the same . Anyone else had similar probs Motorworks reckon they flog lots and expect to do so in the future

My R1200SG switches have not been trouble free, the right hand cluster has been swapped as part of a recall. I have no confidence in the fly by wire throttle or other components and the function button frequently sticks.

Just had the left hand switches replaced on my R1200GS LC. The indicator switch started to fail intermittently.

I've had hadnelbar switches changed on my K1300s and both 1200GSs Also known of others that have had the same probmems. Why do BMW persist in using shit switches? They've been using the same crap since 2009. My Honda, Yamaha and KTM switches are all great so why can't BMW use better? It must cost them a fortune chhanging so many not to mention the hassle and lost good-will

Absolutely in my case spoke to BMW and they deny problem and say only recall is on side stand switch they are obviously not adverse to telling pork pies

switchgear

right hand starter button jammed, replaced under warranty at 2000 mls. left hand switchgear failed, indicator switch at 8000. mls. replaced under warranty a week before end of warranty. 2014 F700GS. the new switches are just the same flimsy things so will probably fail.

When my indaciator switch failed on my 800gsa they replaced BOTH sides automatically. JJH

switches

so when you have new switches fitted are they covered for 2 years warranty even if your bike warranty has expired??

You would of thought by now BMW would of got this sort of thing sorted, after all they have been making bikes for a 100 years...
Costs over quality methinks...

Mine is fine, thanks ( touch wood )
Thanks for the offer though...

Talking to the service manager at my local dealer yesterday, BMW have stopped swapping failed switchgear FOC unless the bike is still under warranty. Apparently BMW had originally agreed to swap switches until Dec 2014 but extended the offer till Dec 2015, after that the owner had to stump up the cash.
