But I don't want all that shite! I would have had it without ABS and ASC if that was still an option and saved another £1000 off
No abs ? Is your life only worth less than a £1000 ?
But I don't want all that shite! I would have had it without ABS and ASC if that was still an option and saved another £1000 off
But if you equip your GSA to the same standard as the KTM 1290 then it will cost you more !!!
The GSA 1200 TE retails at £15510 so a whopping £489 less than the KTM !! There's no point comparing your budget special to the current retail price for the model most aligned with the KTM.
And judging by some of the comments on here, the KTM will be worth a lot more than the GSA in 2 years time.
You only have to do a quick search to see people with 2013 year GSAs being asked to fork out 6k plus to upgrade to the latest version.
I've had over a dozen KTMs over the years and about 8 BMWs.The KTMs have always kept a higher resale value, mainly due to the better build quality I think.
I've had 2 news BMWs- a GSA1200 and a K1300S.
The GSA came from the factory with rusting brackets and the K13 indicators failed 5 minutes after collecting it from the dealer.
Good job that the lemmings keep on coming !!!
). Residuals on the GS are the best in the industry, and much better than the KTM. Try trading in a year old 1190, and you'll be horrified what they'll offer you.

3) Lastly but not least, I like the GS LC, it is just that bit classier in my opinion.
So, other than the power figures, what is it that's so special about the 1190 or 1290, because from where I was sitting, there's nothing to tempt me away from a GS.![]()
I think you either get KTMs or you don't.
For me,riding a KTM is a far more engaging experience than a BMW.
I did enjoy owning a GSA 12 when they came out in 2006.But it did feel cheap ! Who would let a bike leave the factory already going rusty ????
The best thing about the bike was that it let you enjoy the scenery as it just got on with the job in a bland way.But ride the same trip on a KTM and you feel drawn in by the bike. The WP suspension is usually sublime and you just gel with it in a way most BMWs don't.
I tried a new GSA LC but wasn't impressed-it rode ok but the styling is hideous and unfinished-just look at the tubing and the asymmetrical pannier rails !!!
I agree that the KTM switch gear is not their strong point, but at least it works, unlike some of the shite BMW churn out-I was very pissed off to have my switch gear on my K1300S fail with less than 30 miles on the clock !! Three mates who also bought the bike had the same issue from new.
BMW will always have a huge following, especially those that seek the lifestyle and see an old re-run of a Ewan and Charlie special.
But many people make the move to a KTM and then they 'get it'.
You're definitely a BMW man, Nutty !!

I've survived 41 years of motorcycling without ABS
You fly aeroplanes, your life at work depends on electricity, computers, microchips, circuit boards with dodgy soldering and the decisions made by other people. You put your trust in all that, I put my trust in me![]()
Pretentious twaddle...I think you either get KTMs or you don't.

Looks are subjective, but you can't honestly tell me that the KTM is a good looking bike, cos it ain't!![]()
I think the KTM 1290 SA looks quite good-not as nice as the original Adv 950 or indeed my Superenduro but streets ahead of the GSA LC which ,in my own opinion, looks like an over-styled caricature and about 80% finished.
A black/yellow 1150GSA is a much nicer looking bike,and with a better build quality !!

Did somebody mention KTM ???....![]()

Mr Arsey sounds like a tango version of our own Nutty with his obsessive brand devotion .![]()

Is that the Mr Arse that looks a bit like Mr Toby Moody ...![]()
We shall agree to disagree.
Now, let me know when you're next out for a bimble, as it would be good to catch up.![]()
