Is it not the BMW connected app that will display speed or speed limit if you permit access to your location data?
that might work but it is a design feature that appeared before BMW Connected was a thing, when the bikes had LCD dashes back when the 1250 appeared

The speed limit is in a white circle with a red border on mine, I thought they all were like that ?
but you get a white square if there is no data I believe
I've only seen it on a loan bike
