Jeeeeez

I was at the beginning to balance my throttle bodies on my 2010 gsa (something i have done fine a few times on my 1100gs) when i noticed that the screw that adjusts the throttle cable on the left side was weirdly loose in the housing, on closer inspection the adjuster bolt has sheared in its housing.

It was still running ok before i started the sync, just a little bit out... unfortunately i had loosened the right side off already - (so no easy way to get the right side as it was before, left side is locked as its sheared).

I tried to start it anyway... rough coughing as expected and didn't fully start. tried to adjust the right side to what i had (mental picture) originally... tried to start... coughing but no start...
finally it wont fire at all....and the left side (i'm guessing tps) makes a nasty noise
thats it then im stuck...
any suggestions where to begin, how to replace the cable or why it wont fire at all now.

You may have lost or corrupted the TPS values saved in the ecu, I did this recently and it took three attempts at a TPS reset before it read correctly at 0-100% on my GS 911.

Without the TPS being reset, my engine would not start or run.

Take the TB to airbox rubbers off to a expose the throttle. Grab a convenient sized drill 3-4mm and open the throttle put drill into left hand TB and lightly rest the throttle in it. Now adjust the right hand side to the same size. Bike should start now and you can balance properly with the vac. It should get it running until you work out a proper repair. You might want a TPS reset as well just in case it has got all confused. Switch on ignition but don't start. Open fully and close the throttle 3 times slowly. Switch ignition off and use as normal.

will try this if i can figure it out, haven't opened that up before - so i can't fully visualise it but will try a few images to see if i can work it out. be good to get it past the "dead" stage so i know if i only need a cable or if its more than that

guess nothing's going to work till i get the throttles the same and the tps reset, however - tried the throttle thing without doing anything else to see if it might have some life, but it's still dead (guess i was trying to reassure myself that it will eventually start).

ignition on, electrical noise (i think - exhaust flap servo), followed by starter motor 'knocked' (like a hammer knock) once and... nothing, just the repetition of the electrical noise. i thought it would at least give a splutter!

i also noticed that there is no free play in the throttle cable from the handlebar grip and i think there should be some.. im wondering if the bikes been like that for a while.. i didn't do a sync since i bought it as it was always well balanced, didn't want to mess with it if it worked, damn - i should have done that this time too.. only i guess it would have been an issue at some point down the road, at least its better at home than in a field somewhere!

anyone know -
is changing the cable super easy?
i can't find anything online about the left cable!

damn it, i just did a load of wrenching - replaced the fuel sensor strip last week - at least that worked fine

took the tank off (for some reason a bugger to get back on, the bolts on the rear sides were hard to locate.
new battery - oddesy pc535 then replaced the cable - yes it was pretty easy to do.
throttle sync and she runs like a good un
many thanks

I had a right old struggle the first time I tried to refit my GSA tank. It's "easier" when low on fuel but never easy.

The fix was to machine the threads away from the ends of a pair of long M8 bolts. Ive got about 10mm of plain lead-in on the business ends to get the threads started without them going cross threaded.
