Voge DS900X

Went to a Voge dealer a couple of weeks ago to try a DSX900. Was hugely impressed by the appearance of the bike and even looking closely at it, the build quality looked amazing. Sadly, it went downhill from there. Bike supposedly had 3/4 tank of fuel as I left the dealers. Did about 5 miles with the bike riding like a mild bucking bronco, the throttle was awful. Tried all the riding modes, didn't make any difference. Then the fuel gauge went virtually to zero so I thought that might be why it was doing an impression of a kangaroo. Found a garage and put a tenners worth in. Made no difference , the whole way back it was dreadful, in fact, I'd say almost dangerous in slow or stop/start traffic. The salesman greeted me as I got off in the carpark and clearly was expecting me to just say something like, "how long until I can get one" nearly fell over when I told him what happened. I wasn't the first person out on it that day either, several others had ridden it without any complaint so who knows. Anyway, as much as I wanted to like it, I didn't. And yes, the indicators/switchgear are a bit crap too.

Bugger . Sorry to hear that .
My bike was a wee bit snatchy in town below 2500 rpm in Sport . Better in Road .
But it was only minor and no worse than the first KTM 790 for example .

Updating to 4.4 software improved it and getting a £295 Hilltop tune as made it nigh on perfect .

In fairness - the 850 was a complete balls up by bmw.
Took everything that was good about the 750/800 and threw it away.
As an example. ORS had 12x 750’s. Then 12x 800’s.
They had 2-3 850’s as they are that poor.
I think my balls up is excellent …. No intention of taking it off road 👍

I was a trifle disappointed and I'm hoping I was just unlucky.

I'm going to reserve judgement and maybe try one again in the future and I'll be interested to see (hope to see) the UK dealer network and MotoGB catch-up with some better tech support for the brand.

Glad yours is going well!

It would be interesting to know the solution to @Decompressing 's test ride issue.

The bucking bronco impression sounds like it could be fuel contamination, maybe diesel, but that doesn't explain the fuel gauge readout.

It’s probably just down to the fuel injection

When you shut the throttle on carbed bikes there was always a tiny amount of fuel and air being drawn into the engine so you got a gentle transition to tick over, the slide never fully closes

On injected bikes they cut the fuel completely on a closed throttle to reduce emissions until the engine speed drops to tick over or you open the throttle again. Which is why a lot of modern bikes have horrible on/off throttle response at low speeds, they seem to have got worse as the emissions regs get stricter

So £2500 lost in 3 years.

Any current GS will lose that the minute it’s out the dealer.
People with 1250GSs on here report of losing £8k in 6 months to trade ‘up’ to a 1300.

We get it. You’re a GS fanboy . But it’s a big world out there and others are wising up to being ripped off…..
That’s a dealer He would have given around a grand for it

So £4000 loss ….. Manky looking bike to say it’s less than 9000 miles 3years

That was one offer on 1 particular deal, compared to another deal, with different parameters.

50% depreciation.

Of course if you buy cheap shite to start with its gonna be cheap 2nd hand.

My Aston probably has depreciated a bit since new this year. Its still better to have it than some cheap Chinese shite with ropey support and lack of international dealerships.

Because the build quality is shite.

the cheap is just as good as the expensive, it such a council view.

Dunno why he says the Voge quick shifter is upshifts only , as it works both ways, though admittedly downshifts work better in the upper rev range.

Jeez...didn't realise they were nigh on 240kg

Excellent as expected, the summary.

"Lets be clear I wouldnt pick the DSX over the base 800GS"

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHA

Why are they comparing the Voge with the 800 though?

the 900 is mentioned as well in the price comparison bit

I have watched a number of reviews where the Voge is compared more to the 800 as the chassis is similar and the Voge engine is more like the 800 in performance. The F900 has an updated frame and more bhp.

Had a look at one close up.

The black one looks amazing.

Seems well put together.

No idea how it goes but that’s a lot of bike for the money for sure.
