Nutty, do you use your rear brakes much? I hardly ever touch them expect for slow town manoeuvres, which is possibly why my CB rears lasted so long.

I do use them a fair bit, but I have on all my bikes. I find that when I'm standing up pulling in to Waitrose that it's easier to come to a standstill with the rear brake, then jump off just before the bike falls over.

Aren't the brakes linked Front with Back?

Even linked its pretty poor, as the rear should hardly need to applied in normal stopping conditions.
