I am having trouble seeing the way points post export to my Nav 5 when I switch on my Nav 5.

I have created way points and routes in basecamp then export to Nav 5. I have disconnected the Nav 5 from my PC and imported the routes but for the life of me I can't find the way points. Connecting the Nav 5 back to the PC and then selecting the device memory card I can see all the waypoints are in the memory card but I can't see them when the Nav 5 is powered up on it's own.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

OK I haven't got a Nav5 but I'll try to help. A few Questions.

1. Did you send the routes and waypoints to the device or a memory card? It looks like to a memory card from the post?
2. Have you imported the routes with waypoints from the memory card into trip planner in the device? (This is how its done on Garmin 3XX units) If you haven't you will not be able to see anything.
3.On the BMW NAV5 it might have to be imported from "My Data" into "Custom Routes" (it is in my NAV 4)

Have a look, and if you can tell us what you find. (y)

1. The folder was exported to the memory card, i.e. i don't select individual waypoints or routes
2. I have not import from the Nav 5 as I built waypoints and routes in bascamp and exported the data to the Nav 5
3. I imported the routes but the waypoints outwith the routes are not saved in any category

Thanks for the help

Don't export the folder, just seperate routes and try exporting them to the device Nav5 instead of memory card.
When you switch on the Nav5 it should automatically prompt you that new data has been sent to the device and ask you to import it.
Always import it when prompted.

1. If you export a route to a memory card "orphan" waypoints in the route will be ignored when you import the route into the NAV V via trip planner.
2. If you send the route directly to the NAV V the "Orphan" waypoints will appear in favourites and will be available via "Where To?"

If you want to keep it tidy and have a copy of your route on an SD card (good idea) then separate the waypoints you don't want in the route from the route (two folders) and send the waypoints to the unit and the routes to the SD card. The waypoints in the route(S) will appear in history once they have been passed.

If you have loads of "favourites" and want to keep them organised its better to categorise them and save them as custom POI's via POI loader. For example on my XT I have Castles, Lighthouses, Picnic sites and Public loos. You can turn these on and off and make them visible on the map and route to them or not depending on whim.

What is the difference between pt. 1 "export" and pt. 2 "send"?

I have just checked BC and when I have been saying I exported I did not I used 'send to device' subsequently selecting the SD card.

Sorry I used export rather than the correct send to device. If you send to device and select the Nav v the waypoints not included in your route will appear in favourites. If you send to the SD when you import the route to the unit from the SD card it won't pull the unattached (to the route) waypoints into favourites. For your use case separate the route and unattached waypoints into two separate gpx files (lists in Basecamp). Send the route list to the SD card (so that you have a backup) and send the gpx file containing the unattached waypoints to the Nav 5 . The unattached waypoints will then appear in favourites. There are other ways to do this but this is the easiest.

So I created a new list and put all the waypoints in this list which is within the folder I had being planning my tour. I selected this list (waypoints) and sent to Nav 5 internal storage and not SD card and low and behold, both the waypoints and routes are now available in both SD and internal storage. For the waypoints not all the points were available in 'favourites' and i had to use the import option to fully populate the waypoints.

Do i know exactly what data is where and how it's organised between the internal storage and the SD card, no. Does it look like it will work, yes.

Thanks for the help, tour frustration is now down a notch.
