J&S have a 20% off almost everything offer at the moment... including helmets (of course)

Marushin RS1 Carbon

No more neck and shoulder pain on long runs and it weighs hardly anything. Not so quiet but intend to buy a back up one this year at the BMF where they normally cheaper.

In 20 years of riding this is the single most best investment I have ever made in a helmet. You just don't know how much the weight affects you until it is gone :D

As for being a silent lid......errrrr no :augie

Hi Indecisive, looked at the tour x but don't they buffer around with the plastic sail on the front?

Tour x no bufferting and no nead for ear plugs best helmet i have ever had

Warning I use a pinlock, it double glaze's your visor so it doesn't mist up

Schuberth S1, it`s so quiet you notice it even when you try it on in the shop. I do wear earplugs too as I want my ears to work as well as they can for as long as they can :D

Schuberth S1 Pro and always wear earplugs.
It is supposed to be the quietest lid you can buy but still needs earlplugs IMO.

I'm sure helmets are the only piece of PPE you can buy that require the use of another item of PPE to avoid injury.

On that basis can we all sue helmet manufacturers for damages due to hearing loss??

Pardon??:augie

Shoei Xspirit

I use a Shoei Xspirit. I find that in the summer, every helmet I have had so far does not have enough cooling vents. This new shoie seems to fit the bill much better. I use earplugs even when I used a Schubeth S1, one of the quietest around, but still got hot in it.

I don't think it really matters which helmet you choose - without earplugs you'll do irreversible damage to your ears. You'd be better off spending time and money finding earplugs you can get on with. You'll then find your current Arai to be fine.

Schuberth C2 and Shoei Hornet

I have used a C2 for a about a year – great helmet. Recently I have aquired a Shoei Hornet DS with a Pinlock visor, and it has already become a favorite.

I was a bit sceptical at first, wondering if the offroad style hard hat would be noisy and bang my head around in the wind – but to my great surprise, the Hornet is at least as quiet as the C2, the large opening is terrific and the workmanship impeccable. At my typical cruising speed (90 - 120 kph) I don´t notice any aerodynamic disadvantage, what so ever.

the most important question is which is safest.

:hide
the helmet can have the highest safety rating but if the fit is wrong you might as well have bought a £5 batted one of the car boot.

then for me comes noise, most of my family are hard of hearing, so for you how know me that is why i tend to talk loud. i wear filter plugs 0n the bike, concerts and gigs as most bands / venues haven't got the first clue when it come to setting up a sound desk.

Tour X 3 :thumb2
Much quieter and more comfortable than my last Tour X
Wouldn't go out without my custom moulded ear plugs.

Had a trip out today and tried the shoei multi and the schuberth, really like the shoei, nice fit and feel, the schuberth fit nice but felt 'cheap' which its not!,the air vents and flip catch just looked naff, imo, like the look of the offroad type lids but just can't bring myself to buy one to use on the road.
As for my hearing well thats already shot thanks to 25 years riding and too many metallica gigs!!
