Had a trip out today and tried the shoei multi and the schuberth, really like the shoei, nice fit and feel, the schuberth fit nice but felt 'cheap' which its not!,the air vents and flip catch just looked naff, imo, like the look of the offroad type lids but just can't bring myself to buy one to use on the road.
As for my hearing well thats already shot thanks to 25 years riding and too many metallica gigs!!

After three pages, is that it?

Hi Indecisive, looked at the tour x but don't they buffer around with the plastic sail on the front?

I know they look like they will but generally I've not had any problems with mine at all, and that was used on an RTW lasting 3 years and 100,000km. The peripheral vision is excellent and the visor is great if you're riding into the sun. I've just bought a new one so they obviously get my vote ! However, as others have said, you need to try any helmet on to see if it suits your shape head. All Arai models I've tried work for me, but I know that's not true for everybody.

It has been a great day in UKGSer 1200 land... and that little exchange rounds it off, nicely.

You are, sirs, Tossers of the highest order. :clap :bow

On a bad day I would be duty bound to take that as an insult cur ...

But it's a good day indeed sir, so I take it as a compliment ;)

May JB and me have time off then for good behaviour :thumb

Disregarding that I may be in 1200 land ... it's the Schuberth C3 for me every time :thumb

1/2 lb (8oz) lighter than a C2, better fastening/release, coms so eeeezy to fit, it's a revelation :thumb

:beerjug:

Schuberth C2 (anthrazit) with built in speakers for my zumo and bmw system 5 (titan silver).
Both are comfy and quiet. The vents on the bmw work better, but the c2 has a built in sunscreen.

:D

Shoei Hornet DS

Vision is Great , Airflow round the head is good Love it !!

I used a Schubeth S1, one of the quietest around, but still got hot in it.

I bought a new S1 after falling on me 'ed :blast but returned it very rapidly because of lousy ventilation, almost zero in fact - the shop blew air through it and said "it's fine" - but I didn't agree but we did agree to swap it for a S1 Pro - feck me, the world of difference :thumb

The moral - if you decide on a S1 then spring for a Pro...... :beerjug:

Try a System 5, pretty good on short journeys without plugs with the added advantage of being able to ventilate at low speeds. Haven't tried a 6 but in my local dealers there is big cash off a S5, probably to clear them. Also Arai Chaser is good but ventilation is poor with the tall screen as the air flow goes over my head (GSA screen on a GS)

I don't ride a 1200

so I'm afraid I can't help you :(

Had this thread been moved to the equipment section however ..... :green gri

Schuberth C2
Quiet, comfy and stylish. The sunscreen is top in variable weather. The air of screen and inside is great.
For the bad parts: A bit expensive. When open it works as a parachute over 60kph. Last but not least, I had to position the screen on the GS1150 to its lower position to avoid buffeting (I even took of the two back screws to get a real low position, but it gives a special-sporty look to the mamooth!)
Nevertheless my best buy so far, the very best is my GS!

Cheers

Feck me, is there no end to this fascinating list of what bods chose to slip onto their noddles?

What purpose is it serving?

Got a Shoue Multitech which is a great helmet but not quiet without earplugs. Actually, I don`t know any helmet which is quiet without plugs:eek:

Schuberth C Flip thingy is quietest I had but it was bloody heavy - I had trouble hearing people with the flip uo and no plugs in !!:blast

You could say that about a lot of threads on here :augie What harm is it doing anyway Mr Grumpy? :comfort

Not grumpy at all.

I was hoping it was going somewhere but all we got, after three pages*, was a very poor trip report and the news that the OP didn't like two of the helmets that he had tried.....

Oh, and that he is deaf and had a dreadful taste in music....

As for my hearing well thats already shot thanks to 25 years riding and too many metallica gigs!!

Still, never mind. If it pleases people to make lists, carry on.....

*Now up to four and still growing like a basted child of Satan.
