Which oil ?

Hi all, need to change my oil before I go away. I'll be doing about 2500 miles, what is the recommended oil for the 2013GS ? Just going to take it over the first 6000 miles so no harm in an oil change before high miles...heat and traffic etc on the continent.
Advice welcome....

The manual recommends the best oil, or if you can't read ask your local friendly BMW dealer.

the manual specifies Castrol Power 1 Racing (full synth) at 5W40 (which is also what all the dealers use).

It was - but you will learn that oil questions have been asked a gaziilion times on a gazzillion websites since the beginning of time - so people will make sarcastic comments, because in reality all you have to do is look in the manual.

Normally you do, but didn't BMW change the recommended oil, in light of the gearbox issues with earlier bikes?
