Whiskey

I organise and present whisky tastings if anyone is interested.

Trick with whisky is to keep trying different ones and develope an understanding of the different influences on the final spirit.

That sound like an excuse to drink whisky, and it is. Tastings are en excuse to get someone else to pay for my whisky.

For some fine malts, I suggest Strathisla, Dalmore (not the Cigar or latest 'expression' or for the more experienced Ledaig.

Cragganmore, Glenmorangie, highland Park, Bowmore and Glenkinchie are good starters and cover the main regions.

Any questions don't hesitate to get in touch.:oonyack

he's polis wi' free whisky......:augie

They're no' a bad kunts :rob

Edit: I've just deeked his profile: "soon to a tourist guide and whisky taster"...please tell me he doesn't get paid for that. Life isnae fair sometimes...

Garfield, you make the 'Polis' sound like a disease....perhaps it is!

the next whisky tasting can be where ever you like. I can present a tasting of 6 whiskies for a small fee, or can do it socially on a biking weekend if we all chip in a bottle.

Sorry I did not make yesterday. It is my last night shift weekend whilst suffering from the 'polis' and in a fortnight will be cured. I will then be fit and healthy to go on some runs (although the GSA won't arrive until April :comfort)

Keep riding

Anyhoo, hark at you wi' yer "whisky tastin" heid on...at Killin, ye hud twa Babychams and a hawf Jägermeister and we aboot needed tae phone an ambulance fae the church yard for you...

Lets face it, cheap malt whisky (with the exception of supermarket deals on known brands) is generally a bad sign. (Unless you know which distillery that 'single' malt has come from, perhaps! :nenau)

For the good stuff why not have a look at www.smws.co.uk ;)

i was once invited to join by another member, i asked if a lot of talent went to their meets:augie
the guy told me mostly male membership, over 40's , all serious about whisky:rob.

i prefer a laugh with mine :oonyack

Glen Grant is very, very bland IMO. It's OK as an introduction to malts but it's very "watery" and there are far better Speyside malts than that.

Bruichladdich have a bottle called Peat which I have my eye on for an impending heavy dram session in the next couple of weeks.

Thats a bit harsh, agreed its not the best but for £15 quid a bottle its pretty good and certainly better than the Tesco's own types, for a similar price. With the advantage that you can get glen grant anywhere as its the second best selling single malt in the world.
I don't care I like it and almost always have a bottle about the house, :-)

Like I said in my post...IMO. I realise that people must enjoy it or they wouldn't make the stuff.

That's fine that you like it. I'm surprised by your statement about it being the second best selling single malt in the world. Just goes to show what I know...:D

Undoubtably some excellent whiskies there but it's a hundred quid to join (and annually thereafter IIRC). You could get a few nice bottles of malt for that.

For access to the world's widest selection of exclusive limited single cask, single malt whiskies. Plus the tasting events and very best whisky bars in the world.

The annual renewal is £49.50.

You can indeed get a few 'nice' bottles for that, but ...! ;)
