All,
At around 60mph on my 10k mile F8 I can clearly hear what I can only describe as a “wow wow wow” sound presumably from the rear wheel. Any faster and the wind obliterates any sound whatsoever. Any slower than say 40 and everything seems normal.
Originally I was convinced that the noise was a consequence of my well used, squared off Skorpion tyres and thought nothing of it and instead procured a new pair of Tourances.
With the new tires fitted I had the wheels balanced professionally and the bearings checked (no notchiness).
I personally find the Metzeller tyres are not that much of an improvement over the Pirellis, however, most ANNOYINGLY of all is the fact that the wowowo sound is still there and is intensifying.
I can hear it the most when I carry a pillion or when I have panniers and luggage on the back. Note that I cannot make out a wobble of any kind, I mean the bike handles as well as ever but something is definitely not ok.
Are the bearings fecked? Is the chain about to snap? Should I get someone to check the tension on the spokes?.......should I change the air filter?
There are no dents on the rims.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Any ideas?
Cheers.
