ZFE and switch gear update.

When the ecu on my 2018 model r1200gsa needed replacement the new one had to be fully programmed at the factory including the one off factory written update that was unique for my bike to retain computer assist pro functions on a Basic model.
It might mean your secondhand ZFE unit may need to be reprogrammed if one or more options on it is different from on your original unit

they might have sold you that story....

the VIN tells them the part number, they bolt it on the bike and plug it in - the dealer tool online, checks the VO and interrogates the mess it sees - between the tool, DE and and the tech, they come up with plan to fire the software cannon at the bike - it first flashes the software BMW DE like the look of, then writes the coding (setup)

if your VO is accurate (as per factory build) - and no dodgy extras put on by animals are us, or you paid for an official retrofit toy (ABS Pro, Hill start, Extra Rider Modes etc.) and the parts guy forgot to do his paperwork, so BMW record don't show a toy you officially bought it - the Tool will know exactly what to do and will just do it
