Prevention

Soon to be an owner of an '09 GSA, and aware of this potential weakness, what preventive measures (if any) could I take?

Are there any existing threads on the subject of prevention?

There's all sorts of mods people try to keep water out of the recess the FPC sits in but I think some have still had failures even when the unit has remained dry :nenau

Apparently the new revised part is black and I haven't heard of any failing yet so I'd check with your dealer to make sure your new bike has it fitted

No problems at all, did check once though and there was moisture in there so dried it out and put it back with a bit of chain lube round the seal.

Big Red

May 2006 1200 GSA

Mileage when sold 24054

I ride all year round in all weathers, (no car) and it's stored in the garage at night.

I owned the bike from new and traded in November 2008 for another 1200 GSA, (nothing comes close)!

The only issues were the front cover and gearbox seal.
