1150 Clutch Milage Expectations ....

If you're that worried why not get a TT ceramic clutch. Overkill (and pricey) but probably won't die before the rest of the bike does.

Pointless....
The clutch/gearbox splines still wear out at the same rate as a standard clutch, and if the crank seal/gearbox seal dumps it's oil onto the clutch it'll still have the same effect = you won't be going anywhere :augie

Oh well, I'd best just carry on, then.
Defo. no slipping.

Been searching for ind. Beemer expert in my neck of the woods.
Absolutely no joy. Folk around here seems to be either a home-mechanic or rely on the maindealer.
One of those (rare) times when I wish I was from Dahn Sarf!
Btw Steppers, your avatars have gone down hill since Christmas:drool

dealers

Hoi Bryn,
it may be a bit far from you but I found a good BMW dealer just a
bove Alkmaar, in Noord Scarwoude,
they now deal in Triumphs but still service all the Politze bikes in noord Holland.
groetjes & hope this helps,
Paddy

Cheers Paddy,

As you say, a bit far away. Thanks all the same.

Just frustrated at apparent absense of indi Beemer experts in this locale.
I own a 7 yr old bike and don't need the reassuringly expensive thick carpet main dealer treatment.
Maybe there's an opening for a Travelling GS-Shop(?) A good way to earn Euro!!

Not as close to use we'd prefer (south of Eindhoven) but..

I've had this place recomended as a good source for reasonably priced parts etc. I think he specializes in airheads, I've never made it down there but a Saturday trip to check his ware's might be in order:thumb2

sounds like you need to get your clutch tensioned for your pleasure

The clutchon my 99 r850r has got sweeter with age and use. If it goes it goes. The clutch on my 03 1150gsa is crap in comparrison.

Just my tuppence worth:augie

Cheers Guys,

No-one knows what's round the next corner, but I'm pleased enough
with my 1150. And it goes very well.:augie

Hoi Steve,
Yeh, sounds like a good use of a sat. to me.
Bit out of the way, but still...

My 1100GS did about 35,000 miles on the original clutch, that was when I was commuting into London daily. The replacement has done over 60,000 miles and is still fine and dandy:thumb

One does need to remember that Sir James bike regularly carries exceedingly heavy loads
