Now that I have the bike, I'm trying to get some options for a slightly louder end can for it because I think it could sound a bit better. :)

I know that you can get the Akra for it but I think it looks a bit crap and the dealer told me the actual volume isn't much better so it's a bit of a waste.

I've found that you can get SC Project cans for it but was wondering if there were other options? Or if the 1200 LC ones fit and then might have more options?

Look forward to some help and advice. :)

Thanks,

Dan

I have a full akra ti system on a 1200 GSA, my friend has a slip on project SC on his 1200 GS. His is louder than my full system but not by a lot.

Remus.... do 2 types: one is a weird 8 shape.
Or Mivv.

I dont have either so no use as to what they sound like, but YouTube is your friend there....

Thanks guys! Actually found a Yoshi as well which I really like.

Calsport were really good at sorting me out with the Yoshimura that I liked, top service and they were very knowledgeable and able to answer all my silly questions. I'd highly recommend. :)

I have the Remus 8 in black (race version) and I really like it. Even with baffle it has the right level of bark without being overly shouty.

I looked at the Yoshis but I thought they looked overly long in the bike.

Any chance of a photo of that lovely Remus 8
A nice side on shot showing the proportions of the thing.

Please, please.

That would be nice so I can compare tomorrow when I fit mine!

I’ll post up some photos as well. Wasn’t too bothered about the proportions as I’ll have the panniers on most of the time covering it, I was more worried about the sound and Yoshi tend to be good in my experience (as does Remus!).

One mate put the Remus Black Hawk on his.....looks great. Another mate has the SC Projects ordered since December....the new one for the 1250 hasn't had its "E" approval yet, so not ready for shipping.

I have just got a Giannelli (Arrows) Exhaust for my 1250. Not fitted yet, but it is a reasonable price and looks well made. The difference is Giannelli Carbon is flat and the Arrow Carbon is shinny.

Have a look for Beowulf exhausts. Various lengths and finishes and a good price

Thanks for all the replies guys! Got the Yoshimura on tonight and it sounds good, not ear-splittingly loud but noticeably more audible and a deeper tone. Barks a little more and some good pops and bangs on the overrun as well.

I was trying to find any pictures I had without the panniers and found one.
I did find a video of it and it was taken just after the cab was fitted. It’s amazing how the sound has changed over the year which is unexpected. The sound now has more volume without being louder if that makes any sense. It has bigger and deeper sound since new (baffle still in).
You get a proper bark when you start up a hot engine.

Looks great........ If I had an LC, it's the can I would be going for.

Thanks. I spent months deciding on which can I was going to get as I was a bit bored of the akrapovics I had previously and their ever increasing prices. It took me so long to decide that in the meantime I had decided to get a new bike and so left it in the box for six months till I did the deal on the Rallye.

I was all set on a Yoshimura (the R77 rather then hepta force). A couple of thing swung it for me.
The Remus came with the carbon fibre heat shield the covers the join at the exhaust valve.
The Remus is a little shorter and I like its slightly odd shape.
Also Remus was very responsive to deal with when I had a few questions and lined me up with a reseller to make a purchase.

does any remapping need to be done with these various exhausts or does the engine sort everything out? Noob alert

I don't think so because the 1250 has a closed loop emissions system so will trim the fuel levels as required to keep things the way it wants. I can't say for sure, but I don't think that just changing an end can would be beyond it's limits of correction either, so I imagine that you'll be fine.

I haven't been on the dyno with mine or anything but it doesn't sound like it's over fuelling and it hasn't come up with any errors or anything, which I'm assuming it would do given that it's constantly monitoring the air/fuel ratios out of the cylinders and the post-cat levels as well. :)

If you just change the can then no you don’t need any modification.
If you change the headers as well - maybe. I have heard some say you need to remap. I have then heard from people who know more than me that with the closed loop system it will adjust. If you make even more changes then I would think it goes from maybe to yes.

I think that you'd probably get engine management lights and things flashing up at you if you changed the headers and removed the cat because it would think that the cat had failed... To get around that you'd need a remap anyway so then you would just map to suit anyway I'd assume. :)

Has the 1250 got lamba sensors after the cat aswell as before then??, if its only got lamba sensors before the cat, you could still change the headers for decat ones with no issues.
