Absolutely. :thumb

I said all along that if the KTM wasn’t as good as the GS, I’d sell it and chalk it down to experience. A test ride wouldn’t have been long enough for me to decide, as it wouldn’t have been fair, due to me being an avid GS fan. Not quite on the level of our American colleague on here, but I was somewhat blinkered, and will be the first to admit it.

I’m glad I made the jump, and understand if others aren’t prepared to take the risk due to fear of the unknown/ worries about reliability & residuals, but for me it’s the best move I made.

I’m sure I’ll be back on a GS one day, but not until the current raft of issues has been addressed.
I did make the jump , and jumped back as again sorry but the Ktm is not as good as the Gs I know I owned one

Im surprised you jumped ship especially as you say you ride the GS to its limits, so surely the 1290 engine would have been better suited and getting the dealer to set your suspension up to suit your riding would have been beneficial surely !

I had the suspension set up to suit , the 1290 still does not deliver that extra. The gs again , out of the box is better than the ktm.
Why the dig at my riding , again . Met you once and you seemed a reasonable guy and not judgmental.

How did they set the suspension up for you? What was involved?

It involved going to bed one night , dreaming up some bullshit about owning a 1290 then 30 pages of bollox. Ask him if he’s got a photo of himself with the fantasy bike ? 🤪

I.

No Dig just curious because I thought the sas package would be perfect for your riding style, Shame the suspension did not meet your expectations, maybe you have learnt to trust the TL that much the transition to conventional usd doesn't bode well.

I have to say that one of the best things about the GS for me was just how easy it was to ride and it certainly 'flattered' my lazy riding style on many an occasion.

I know my Orange bike is an R so not directly comparable to the SAS but my opinion is that the suspension is bloody good for a stock set up.
I did spend a lot of time and effort however getting it where I wanted it, including having the rear shock re-shimmed but now it's 'there' well, like I said, it's pretty much nigh on perfect.

Did you get your KTM dealer to set the suspension up for your weight?

It was the S not the R , the s is not adjustable only via the mode buttons so you can choose different settings ie solo , solo = luggage etc , but you cant change the factory settings as its a semi active system.
The R I believe you can as its more designed for off road and has manual set up so you could re valve it , never looked to close as its not up my street with the 21" wheel.
KTM will not set the valving on the semi system , but they will on the standard systems.

Ask me yourself , and the answer is no , I just rode it.

It is adjustable. The dealer can program it to your weight on their computer. It's a shame you didn't look into getting it set up properly for you before you got rid. :blast

So what are the problems BMW will have to figure out before getting back on one as the LC and AC boxers are probably the most reliable, quality and longest lasting motorcycles currently on sale.
My 2017 has ZERO problems.O.K. from the factory the brakes lever had a little more free-play than I like before the brakes come on and the first 3 gears didn't shift as perfect as 4-5-6 but that's it.There is no other bike I'd rather ride.O.K. the S1000XR is more fun because of the ballistic top-end feeling like being shot out of a cannon between 9000 and 12500 rpm but because of that I would not give up on TL which is superior to any fork when it comes to ironing out bumpy pavement and braking, shaftdrive and the boxer engine protecting my legs.
And yes I don't want or need TFT and my bike does not have keyless so 2 "problem areas" eliminated.
And yes I love the GS's comfort, practicality, handling and instant grunt !
Yesterday on a twisty road I came up on a local rider in full leathers with kneesliders on his "superior" 1290 Super Duke GT.He tried to escape but after 5 minutes riding his arse he waved me by on his Ready to Race machine...:D
Love the GS...:thumb2 Best street bike period. No other street bike can touch the whole GS-package that is probably the reason why it is the most sold street bike over 1000 cc worldwide !
Would love it even more 50 lbs lighter,25 hp stronger with 17 inch wheels ! In black right from the factory...:thumby:
First weekend in October we know more...

Forgot to mention I had one problem.First it felt weak, weaker than the Eu-3 models. But after a factory ECU remap it runs great. No need to hilltop it...;) making 117 rwhp !
If the 1250 makes 129 rwhp I'm willing to be one of the first because 2021 when Euro-5 comes bikes will run even leaner and quieter...:(
If the EU-SSR should survive...;)
Let's hope not:beerjug:

Why should I believe anything written by a person that criticises an innocent man for something he didn’t do?

Yes Boxershit, I mean you and your comment about Walter Kaaden which you still haven’t retracted as far as I can see.
