Guess what???
We have finally moved!!! It's only taken two to two and a half years, but it's done - most of the time was wasted listening to estate agents explain that they really could sell the old house in a price range that no-one actually ever asked for properties in ie £250k-285
The rest of the time has been wasted dealing with a variety of idiots. The Banwell property (and a holiday that was booked at the same time) fell through on price the couple selling it just couldnt give a straight answer on anything time scales/acceptable price - we'd do a deal, agree a price and timescale and the next day it would be all off because someone knew a guy down the road who might have an extra couple of quid to throw in the pot... I wouldn't mind but the place had been on the market a fair few months when we offered and initially got accepted but hey ho.
The next property was in Uffington and by all accounts unmortgageable as it was suffering from subsidance on at least three fronts, floors needed replacing, there where questions about the state of the first floor and no planning permission for a lot of the extra building work that had been done to the place, but each time something new and worse came up with the place - we took it on the chin and figured it would be worth it once it was all done - final straw was the surveyor laughing at us and asking why we wanted to throw so much money away as the place just wasnt worth it - tried talking to the owners about renegotiating on price as the place was unmortgageable and we couldnt do anything to pursade any of the leaders we spoke to. Trouble was the idiots selling the place lived in cloud cookoo land and couldnt see the problem with a house that was splitting in three directions. To be honest it was a bit of a lucky escape, I took a drive out that way during the recent floods to find that bits of Uffington where under 4 feet of water, this place was ok, but you could only get to it be a buttock clenching 4x4 wade through the floods. Anyway I was able to buy 9cravencommon.com and I figured the whole thing will make an interesting blogg (I am allowed to list the url arent I???)
Finally the good news - we found a great place in Everleigh - I guess its a hamlet about 20 minutes south of Marlborough - loads of work needs to be done here and it looks like nearly all of it will fall to me as the wife has seemed to have taken to watching me carry really heavy things about and make comments like "thats just rediculous carrying something that heavy by yourself" and "if only you told me what to do, I could help"... I guess its a men from mars thing

but this place has given me a great excuse to buy petrol power tools... I now have a petrol strimmer and a petrol hedge trimmer - I still can't quite justify buying a chainsaw (petrol of course) as we only have one tree that needs felling - I guess we do have an open fire but...
I had a look at sit on mowers, but again I can think of better things to spend a grand on, plus it would take up space in my lovely double garage

god the 12GSA looks small in there.
