Im getting the front engine cover changed with BMW supplying all parts and i'm paying the labour for fitment. I thought this was reasonable as it isn't covered on warranty. Are new parts then covered on BMW warranty and if so for how long?

As you made a contribution towards the repair the warranty remains with you for a period of 2 years

Once fitted - invest in a Cymarc plate for the front of the engine. If you feel particularly flush - get a fender-extender as well.

If BMW change complete engines on the LC for paint defects this seems the least they can do.

The dealers don't get the same hourly rate for warranty jobs (they bill BMW, bmw pay less.) so as a sweetener they get you to pay the full rate for a part that is provided....

But it's paint you're protecting - ACF50 ain't the best for that, is it?

I honestly dont know but i stripped my bike down before it ever saw the road and using a hvlp spray gun and small compressor i sprayed the entire bike. Its been done twice since, and i would bet if i washed it off the bike would be like new. However i let my bike get dirty and i dont wash it very often. you would be surprised how clean it is even without washing.

My bike is a gsa 90 edition and the paint is failing around where the securings are. Nothing serious or ugly but it is starting and I wanted to catch it early. The bike goes in on the 16th to be done. Bike has covered 8k miles and sits in the garage for long periods due to work commitments. It has a fender extender but no additional front plate/cover.

I had the Timing Cover replaced by BMW on my 2012 RT, at the time of asking, the Bike was nearly 3 years old & had covered just over 3,000 miles.

BMW paid for the Cover, I paid for a crankshaft seal & the labour.

Now fitted with a Fender Extender & treated to ACF-50 by AYB once per year.
