Brake problems denied by BMW

I am surprised you are surprised!!!

Did you not read their marketing material for the 1200GS .. it's there in black and white.

They are UNSTOPPABLE!!

I will get my coat :D

Your correspondence has been addressed by Jane and myself who are the most Senior Managers within BMW UK, and we have nothing further to comment in this matter.

FWIW, based on the correspondence I can understand their response.
They're trying to help (within the practical constraints of their business)... you're trying to pick a fight. There comes a time when saying "I demand to speak to your manager" simply isn't productive. :rob :(

nice responses from bmw i must say, however the email time line is a bit confusing at the top......

As you say once specifics are asked they dont want to answer- no surprise there.

i would contact the bike mags, im sure they would be interested following the last weeks admission by bmw over quality control

Contacting mags will not work because BMW are big advertisers and the mags simply would not be interested. I`ve had this when I looked after sales for a truck manufacturer and my response when a customer said "i`ll go to the press" was "go ahead"! Believe me, the mags won`t touch it and you`ll lose any help from BuMW.

I completely agree with dreamer on this and the best way forward IMHO is to get the factory technician check it over with you in attendance and I`m sure it will be sorted out. It`s not in BuMW`s interest to abandon you. I actually think they are being pretty helpful given you decided to ride it from Berlin after they said don`t. Most manufacturers would tell you to eff off because you ignored their advice.

I don`t work for them by the way but do know how big manufacturers work in these situations.

+1

I had a great deal of problems with my first GS.I contacted Ped Baker who had a GS on test for MCN,basically he was sympathetic but said that should they start to wage a campaign against any manufacturer they would loose any test bikes or exclusives etc.so would not be in their interest,he did send me a set of pannier inner bags tho that BMW forgot to take back with the bike:bounce1 Thanks Ped:thumb

Useful to be able to see both sides of the story - it makes it so much easier to decide who the prick is :)

Well done :clap

TIMELINE (Briefly): One's been offered reasonable help from the OEM who are interested in resolving the issues.
One has refused to take advice from a technician/s who advised AGAINST using the machine. (With concern for safety safety not just his name or profit.)

Swallow it man. Go meet the rep. Post results. (Pictures)

I have never demanded to speak to anyone I have been polite and continued with each person until they will/cannot answer very simple questions.

get the bike fixed how ?they say there was nothing ever wrong with it ?

I am riding the bike and of course I will take the bike in when I return from riding it !

As for taking advice of technitions surley am I not able to make my own choices as they are not from another planet where they are all superbly trained experienced and knowledgable ?

Good advice. :thumb

Take your emotion out of it and they're offering you a reasonable solution. IMHO, the moment you took the decision to ride the bike after being recommended not to (:nenau) was the moment you lost the upper hand and a degree of credibility, in their eyes.

Good luck with a resolution.

IMHO posting all these numbered questions that argue the toss about who said what etc is all provokative spat. As said above, get the rep to look at the bike and move on.

E.g. on a push bike, you might have right of way but if you don't get out of the way of that lorry thundering towards you ....you will dead right!

In other words, you can spend your life, examining the minutia of other peoples behaviour and words to prove you are right and they are wrong, but it won't get you anything but self-satisfied loneliness.:rob

Dear Mr Sharmen

Thank you for your reply it was very revealing, I note from your email that you are the most Senior Manager within BMW UK. Does that mean you report to nobody?. You are also then the most senior person in BMW UK? Could you please supply your managers name and email.

regards

DH

Hi Dave, just wondering if you were the same DH I met up at Ullapool on the Loch Way Round?

If so how goes it m8? ;)

John :)

Hi Im not him !

The matter of who said what is quite simple I do not lie and I do not like people lying to me, I try and be honorable and to have integrity. If you are happy to live your life differently to this then that is your choice. I make mine.

You say self-satisfied loneliness I can only presume you know this from hard learnt experience.

As stated before of course I will meet up and try to resolve the problems.

I wish I was a perfect emotionless robot however I am a living breathing human who loves bikes. I will try and take all the so helpfull advice given out by so many wise people.
