I've used it on 4 different BMW's without problem. Essential part of cleaning routine.
Don't forget that he will need a bike dryer as well
If you still have the coal scuttle attached to the final drive, remove it and fit a number plate flap / extender / thingummybob. Something like this will do the job, although the Touratech thing compromises function for "style". A longer lower part is more beneficial. http://shop.touratech.co.uk/number-plate-splash-guard-universal-18cm.html
The plastic device attached to the bevel is only there to satsisfy TÜV rear bumper height regulations and all it achieves is to direct a jet of dirty water at the back of your leg. Fi
Getting covered in shit was one of the first disappointments of my GS ownership. I fitted a mud sling, infill panels + removed the coal shovel which improved things a great deal. When I toured on my Triumph Explorer, I always took the planners into hotels because they remained clean. Can't do this with the GS because they're always too dirty. The Explorer is very similar apart from that it doesn't have a coal shovel so it's difficult to know why/how it kept me and the panniers much cleaner.

Don't scoff .... They are feckin' excellent .... !!!

My wife bought me a leaf blower for my birthday and I tried it out on the bike last week. The neighbours probably thought I was nuts, but it did a good job of drying the bike![]()

For those thinking of buying a bike drier (like me) take a look at pet driers - almost exactly the same spec but half the price!

In fact, I'd say that the pet drier is better as it has adjustable speed

What a shame that the BMW self-cleaning technology never made it to bikes.

This is a wind up right! Please don't let it be a serious complaint.
If it is for real then the OP needs to give BMW a call and ask them to take the bike back as clearly he is only suited to four wheel transport. It's a rufty, tufty dual purpose adventure bike, designed to take you all over world over all terrains and you complain that it gets dirty FFS! Get real. Did you come to a GS from sportsbikes? If so maybe you should go back to your comfort zone of being a Summer rider only doing just 1500-2000 miles a year.. I know we have had some pretty pathetic whines and gripes from the 1200 toilet section in the past but this one beats them all.![]()
Link please. Can't remember that one. What about the one where the bloke was complaining about having gravel on the road. That was class.
I can't believe i missed that one butr I was probably out getting my bike dirty.
Goodness me! How did you cope?

I'm still in therapy but slowly working through it. I mean the dirt even came up from the back and got under the panels....I couldn't stop it no matter how carefully I rode and it's left severe scars.
I look at this picture and it brings it all back.......![]()
