Done to death.....but

....however, the only negative I can identify with is the instrument panel - the analogue is too small and I only use the digital speedo...and there is way too much pointless info that can be displayed.

I'm not sure that I get that, at least the numbers etc are big enough for my old eyes to read! I couldn't read the digi-clock on my previous Explorer. Suggest don't scroll thro it, then you won't have to read all of the stuff

What I meant by this is that the analogue readout is too small for my eyes to make out the numbers quickly if i need to check and adjust my speed quickly :augie, so I find the digital readout much easier to read quickly.

I know the digital screens can be tweaked by the user to display what they want, but there just seems to be a lot of pointless info available ie the Votage meter and all the trip meters
...and things that would be useful ie being able to change from mph\kph and bar\psi and non US date layout etc... aren't possible by the owner :nenau

On the initial test ride I had the same thoughts (by which I am assuming you mean that the new bike's gearing is too Low) so I called into a friend who has a 2009 model and we went for a quick spin to compare directly. What we found surprised me insofar as the new bike was travelling slightly faster in 6th compared to the 2009 model at the same rev's which would suggest that the new bike is, if anything, slightly higher geared than the old one. I'm assuming it's the increased power and torque that makes it feel livlier and therefore lower geared.

The thought did occurred that this might be the case. In which case I stand corrected and am even more impressed.....still found the GSA more relaxing....maybe it is an age thing.

On the "unbiased" comments. Not sure what is meant here....just told it as I saw it.....I was kinda hoping the difference between the oil head and LC wouldn't be so marked as I will now have to start saving for the GSA.

One other thought, my oil head is still a great bike ....it hasn't become crap overnight...but there is no doubt in my mind that the LC is much more fun.

- Gear ratios - as previously reported they are just too close with 5 & 6 gearing being too high. I found myself in 6th far more often than the GSA which I only really use for high speed motorway work.

Really? :nenau

What kind of mpg do you get out of your GSA riding like that?

Vibs

I seem to get a few vibs at about 5000rpm, which is about 80mph in top gear. Slightly annoying. But I can live with it as I love most everything else about it.

They all seem to like your report, ? wonder if that's because it contains only what they want to hear ? :blast

There will always be someone who feels embittered that they no longer ride "the best" bike of it's type in the world.
What most intelligent people see as progress will always be frowned upon by some Ludites - particularly those in possession of the redundant technology.
They like to read criticisms of the new version so that they can justify to themselves that their old version is still the best in at least some respects. When they come across an all praising report, however honestly written, it is preferable to dismiss it with contempt. Simples:barf

It's called cognitive dissonance - a well known human psychological state of mind.

I solve this problem by only posting on bike specific parts of this forum that relate to bikes that I actually own.

Or maybe they're not so shallow, nor insecure in their choice that they feel the need for the latest, shiniest toy?

It always seems that when some people run out of anything sensible to say, the fact that I don't subscribe seems to be there only method of reply, well I've been around since 2005 and never subscribed and unless I need to I never will, so get over it. it's not compulsory. Now where were we ?, Oh yes you have presumed I ride, or don't ride a particular bike, and Colm Cummins is busy looking in his crystal ball :comfort
