It's difficult and expensive for us to get there with a bike which meant we were the only Brits on the ferry from Denmark.
So I guess erections generally come before Champagne and eruptions, but why Iceland?

Anyway, it's not going to be a ride report about daring deeds crossing chest high rivers and abseiling into volcanos......the coldest Icelandic summer for 40years made all of that less tempting plus heavy bikes loaded with not only our camping gear but travelling with a woman means.....extra luggage like spare knickers (x20)... you know what I mean.
We arrive in Harwich for our first overnight ferry to Esbjerg in west Denmark, of course we get there far too early so hang around with the other bikers in the warm sunshine.
There was a bunch of fairly sad looking middle aged Harley owners wearing leather 'chaps' going on a commercial trip to Norway. Country and western music pumping from their speakers spoke volumes....it wasn't however, all bad.
Chatting with an American guy and his lady, they're making their way around the world a month or so at a time, then flying home, earn some cash and carry on. He says a continuous trip would change him making post-trip life more difficult, he doesn't want that.
Then in a small world, Rob 'Shapeshifter' turns up with his mates who're off to Norway. Great to see him and we shared the same ferry, bumped into each other on the road north through Denmark, by chance stayed in the same place in Hirtshals, used the same cafe......either we were stalking him or he was stalking us.
Getting onto and off ferries for Ange is a trauma beyond words, I have to recce ahead, she warns other bikers off and away from her then waits for a clear run up or down the ramp before abandoning her bike in the middle of the car deck for me to sort out.
My little joke with her last year on a Spanish ferry about us riding across a plank onto the ship was obviously still playing on her mind.
We're off to Denmark, a country who's roads are so boring no self respecting biker would ever make a destination.
