Hi my lc has now done 900miles and goes in for 1st service next week , has anyone experienced clunky gear changes mainly 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th, hope it gets better, but overhaul a wicked machine,
Why's that then? Mines going in at just under 900 miles. Max suggested in manual is 750 miles. Can't believe another 150 miles will make that much difference.

the clunk into first is normal but I cannot get a clean change 2nd/3rd and 4th tried it all ways. Current mileage 1440 first service at 730.
Think I've forgotten how to change gearthe clunk into first is normal but I cannot get a clean change 2nd/3rd and 4th tried it all ways. Current mileage 1440 first service at 730.
Only problem other then gears which may get better with mileage is chrome on l/h header seems poor looks like series of pinholes on surface will mention to dealer when passing.
BTW Disc edges are painted black so no rust yet![]()
Doesn't sound right to me, the gear change is just fine on my bike - apart from the characteristic 'clunk' into 1st.
Each to their own, but mine went in at 600 miles, as I want the running in oil out of the bike as early as possible, then onto fully synthetic. If the manual says the max is 750 miles, you may be risking future warranty rejections if you've ignored this.![]()

I cant seem to go from 1st to neutral, no matter how gentle I kick it up it hits 2nd mostly

Same thing here, seems it slips into neutral from second OK, I also have a HD Streetglide and have the same issue on most occasions. Wonder if it is a wet clutch thing?
As you snick from 1st to neutral spin the revs. Just a little blip and just as the blip has peaked and starts to fall .... snick ...![]()
Into 1st and from 1st to 2nd is hopeless. But after that, put some pressure up on the gear lever with your foot and keep it there, rev her up a bit, then a small and quick (and I mean small and quick) twist down on the throttle grip, with or without a tiny pull in of the clutch (not all the way to he grip, just a couple of cm), but preferably without, and the gear should shift up nice and smooth.
