I am trying to download and open waypoints and routes e-mailed to me by a mate.
I have a 2820 using version 8. when trying to open routes when saved using Map source I get the following message. I used to get the same message when using my 2610 using verion 8

The file cannot be read because it uses a subsequent file version. This program can read MPS files as well as GDP files version 2 and below

and download the 47.72 mb download if you're on Vista or http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3313 if you're on Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows NT it's a 20.60 mb download.

Then try opening the file

Maybe your mate is version 9 or 2008... Same thing happened to me when I reinstalled Mapsource but did not bother with 2008. Could not open previous files...

You need to up date your Mapsource software as said in a previous post.

Sorry, just checked see post 2... He is right. I still have not reinstalled 2008 but have downloaded the upgrade he mentions. Sorted...

You need to up date your Mapsource software as said in a previous post.

I really hope you have more luck updating Mapsource than I did. See HERE.
